A Classic Interview With Gay Callan As Chatom Vineyards Starts New Era Under New Owner Dorian Faught

Douglas Flat, CA... Dorian Faught the former owner of the Murphys Hotel has purchased Chatom Vineyards and is excited to continue and grow the rich Chatom Vineyards heritage. Before we do a piece on the next generations plans we thought we would repost an interview with Gay Callan as a tribute to her building Chatom Vineyards. In 2008 we had the pleasure of spending some time with one of the integral parts of the local wine industry, Gay Callan of Chatom Vineyards. Chatom Vineyards has been growing and producing great wines here locally in Calaveras County since the early 1980's. Chatom, Stevenot, Black Sheep, Milliaire and a handful of others were the pioneers that helped our local wine industry grown and flourish. Many of the second wave wineries and winemakers got their start in the industry working at wineries such as Chatom. Gay is a native San Franciscan but her family has deep farming roots in the Central Valley.

Moke Hill Music Scene Is Alive & Well At Hotel Leger

Mokelumne Hill, CA...The Historic Hotel Leger is music central for northern Calaveras. They in addition to the many Saturday night concerts they have they also have a weekly Blues & BBQ Series that showcases their pool and outside entertainment areas. We stopped by recently to check things out....

Copperopolis Town Square's "Market At The Square" Farmers Market runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each Sunday through October 4. Calaveras Has Talent Quarter Finals Rolling Into Bret Harte Theatre Tonight

Angels Camp, CA...Our Quarter Final Shows will feature 69 acts from all sides of Calaveras County ranging from ages 8 to 68 Years old. 30-35 acts will participate at the Quarter Final Shows. We have vocalists, guitarists,bands, pianists, dancers, and even some yo-yo action. Come join the fun and root for your favorite talent. The Quarter Finals are at San Andreas Town Hall on 8/8 at 5pm and Bret Harte Theater at Bret Harte High School 8/15 at 5pm.
