Sonora Bach Festival Opens 40th Season With Baroque Singalong

Sonora, CA...The Sonora Bach Festival, will be holding a Baroque Singalong on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 2:00. Avery, CA...The Avery Hotel is the place to be on Saturday, September 17 from 4-9 pm when Manzanita Writers Press breaks in this newly revitalized historic landmark with ArtsHarvest, a Dinner Dance Party featuring the high-energy, genre-bending Americana music of Mumbo Gumbo. Those who have enjoyed music and camaraderie at the hotel over the years will appreciate the artful facelift it has received in the last nine months under the direction of Fred Baker of Sheep Ranch and his partners Jimmy Sedge and Andy McCardi. They have been working diligently to bring the 1850s treasure back to life. Fred’s vision is to create the Avery Social Club, where local groups and private parties can hold events. History is important to Baker, and he was instrumental in the resurrection of the Pioneer Hotel and the Dance Hall in Sheep Ranch, as well as other notable estates.

The band is a full true-to-style tribute, from the authentic appearance and attire of the members to the high energy stage presentation and performance that mimics a late 80′s AC/DC concert. Skyline Bear Valley Invests in Snowmaking and Grooming

Bear Valley, CA...Bear Valley is thrilled to announce more than $300,000 of improvements in its snowmaking and grooming operations in anticipation of the 2016-17 season. The enhancements include a better and more efficient snowmaking system along with new snowcats to groom the increased production of snow. Bear Valley’s new snowmaking system includes upgraded pumping capacity to the snowmaking holding pond at the top of the mountain. “This will allow us to operate continuously during optimum temperatures for snow making,” says Bear Valley’s snow product manager, Tim Schimke. “The upgrade will provide the ability to move from 500 gallons per minute to nearly 1400 gallons per minute. This important improvement will allow uninterrupted operation of our snowmaking system for weeks at a time, translating into more snow production.”

Jamestown, CA...California State Parks, Railtown 1897 State Historic Park (SHP) and the California State Railroad Museum Foundation will host the second annual Apple Harvest Day on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Railtown 1897 SHP. Apple Harvest Day celebrates the history of apple production in Tuolumne County – which dates back to the early days of the gold rush – and the Sierra Railway’s part in both promoting apple cultivation and transporting the produce and products. The special event will include interpretive displays, a slide presentation on the history of Tuolumne County apples, crafts and games for kids, a free booklet on fun apple facts and trivia, plus live music by the group Faux Renwah.

Angels Camp, CA...Enjoy the Sierra Foothills on a 5K/10K race through the historic town of Angels Camp. A community sponsored run that benefit the students of Mark Twain Elementary School. This race will kick off with a Kids 1 Mile Fun Run at 8:00am. 5K & 10K will start at 8:30. All races begin in historic downtown Angels Camp at The Visitors Center. The race will conclude at Utica Park in Angels Camp. Along the race route, runners will enjoy many scenic and historic elements along the way to include Angels Creek, Gold Cliff, Lightner Mine, views of Bear Mountain and Greenhorn Creek Golf Course. It is not uncommon to spot grazing deer, wild turkeys, an abundance of birds and our resident cattle and horses.
