Angels Camp, CA...The Calaveras Youth Organization be holding its 3rd Calaveras Has Talent Finale on September 16th, 2017 at 6pm at Bret Harte Theater. Calaveras Has Talent has become an annual competition of local talent from Calaveras County. Singers, musicians and dancers have performed in competition from two quarter finals and a semi final at both Bret Harte Theater and the Calaveras Performing Arts Center this past August. This year’s final features six finalists in youth music performance, six finalists in adult music performance and 3 finalists in our open dance/other category. The winners of the final win cash prizes and trophies, along with performance opportunities at 2018 Calaveras Jumping Frog Jubilee. Our youth finalist also goes on a school assembly tour throughout Calaveras County schools. The event has become the main fundraising drive for the Calaveras Youth Organization.

Hermit Valey, CA...The Ebbetts Pass Scenic Byway Association (EPSBA) will be hosting their 11th Annual Scenic Celebration on Saturday, September 9th, 2017 from 11am until 7pm. We invite you to “Come Play on the Pass” with us and enjoy one of the last free, outdoor, live music events of the year. Our annual celebration takes place in Hermit Valley and is affectionately referred to as “Hermitfest” by locals and longtime attendees.

Murphys, CA...From the Sierra Nevada foothills, the Risky Biscuits bring an original mix of heel-kicking stompers and humble ballads, creating an eclectic mix of Americana, bluegrass, and country. The band are Brice Station regulars, and are a fun, high-energy performance - it's going to be a great evening! Music starts at 7pm, and we'll be serving food and drinks all night. Jamestown, CA..Railtown 1897 State Historic Park (SHP) is looking for interested volunteers to help support THE POLAR EXPRESS™ Train Ride experiences that will be available this holiday season. Interested adult volunteers are encouraged to attend one of the Volunteer Open House events that are scheduled on two upcoming Saturdays – September 23 & 30, 2017 – from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Park. While no previous experience is necessary and training will be provided, volunteers will conduct a number of festive activities that include welcoming greeters, line monitoring, cocoa pouring and serving, hospitality support, story narrating and more (depending on their skills and areas of interest). Complimentary refreshments will be provided at the Volunteer Open House events and potential volunteers will have the opportunity to talk to the leads of the program who can answer questions and provide additional insight.
