There were 40+ entries with this name and each entry will receive an unrestricted lift ticket for the 17/18 season. In addition, from this group we will hold a drawing for 6 season passes on Nov 22, 2017. Murphys, CA...Every year on the first Friday in December, Murphys celebrates the start of the holiday season with a community Open House from 5 to 8 pm on Historic Main Street. Admission is free, the streets are closed to traffic and we are ready to celebrate the winter holidays. Chestnuts will be roasting, carolers will be singing, and Santa will be visiting! A favorite of locals, the annual event is an old-fashioned celebration featuring a parade, holiday treats and entertainment hosted by Main Street merchants, restaurants, wineries and the Murphys Business Association. Santa arrives with the parade and stays for photos with the kids in the Native Sons Hall. Bring your phone or camera to snap a picture. The New Horizon Band will be providing music in the Native Sons Hall and Road Trip Espresso will be offering hot drinks for sale nearby.

Copperopolis, CA...In the white car is parade Grand Marshall, Al Gilbert. He is being driven by his son, former Marine Corps. Pfc. Steve Gilbert. The gentleman behind them is Dennis “Denny” Thompson, a highly decorated 1st. Lt. in World War II.

San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras County Arts Council is proud to present a Celebration for Veterans in Calaveras County. Salute to Veterans, Service. Struggle. Strength. Honor. Dignity. Homecoming. Those words mean the world to those who serve our country. On Saturday, November 11, the Calaveras County Arts Council’s will serve respect to those men and women by hosting a gala reception celebrating Veterans Day. To the backdrop of popular Broadway tunes and John Philip Sousa marches, the Arts Council will serve refreshments, remembrances, and a last look at the gallery show Salute: Calaveras County Arts Council honors 100 years of service. There will be door prizes as well.This show, consisting of artwork and memorabilia, charts a fine journey through patriotic iconography and art as well as items used by men and women in the service of the nation.

National Parks Commemorate Veterans Day With Free Admission Nov. 11 & 12th |

Washington, DC...The National Park Service will commemorate Veterans Day and the service of American military members past and present with special events and free admission in parks throughout the country on November 11 and 12. The National Park Service’s American Military website contains a list of events as well as other military-related outreach and information. “More than 100 national parks have direct connections to American military history, including frontier forts and Cold War sites, battlefields and national cemeteries, memorials and patriotic shrines, “ said Acting National Park Service Director Michael T. Reynolds. “These special places pay tribute to our veterans and serve as reminders of their selfless service and sacrifice throughout the history of our nation.”

Railtown 1897 to Honor Military Veterans with Complimentary Train Rides and Park Admission |

Jamestown, CA...To honor their service and celebrate the patriotic holiday, California State Parks, Railtown 1897 State Historic Park (SHP) and the California State Railroad Museum Foundation are proud to offer veterans and active military personnel with complimentary excursion train rides plus complimentary Park admission on Saturday, November 11, 2017. Veteran and active military personnel are encouraged to wear their uniforms with pride while enjoying a special excursion train ride behind diesel locomotive No. 1265, a 1952 former Army diesel which last served at the Riverbank Army Ammunition Plant. The special diesel locomotive will be operated by a number of crew members who are also military veterans. Excursion train rides are available at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on this special day, delighting visitors from near and far during a six-mile, 45-minute round trip ride along the rails of the famous “Movie Railroad” while passing through California’s scenic Gold Country. All train ride tickets on Veterans Day are first-come, first-served.
