Murphys, CA...Independent Mercantile will be hosting our 2nd of 5 artist receptions of the summer at our Main St. store, the ND&X, July 14th. This reception will feature the work of another local favorite Thea Schoettgen. Thea finds beauty and inspiration in the panoramic views that surround her home in Bear Valley, CA and in those bright little moments whose compositions grab her attention. Finding inspiration in the near and far is her passion.

Little Big Town Brought Another Great Show to Ironstone |

Murphys, CA...On July 1st Little Big Town with Granger Smith featuring Earl Dibbles Jr. rolled into Ironstone. They brought another great night of music and also a great crowd to our local venue that has been rated as one of the best to take in a concert. It was also nice to hear the visiting celebrities enjoying our area as well as Little Big Town took their kids to Big Trees State park and raved not only about the park but that their families enjoyed a bit of WiFi free family time. We have a few photos and a bit of video below to give you an idea of what a great night you missed. Get your tickets now to the rest of the great shows this year...

Yosemite National Park Now Offers Electronic Park Entrance Passes |

Yosemite, CA...YourPassNow offers visitors new digital access to America’s public lands. Yosemite National Park announces the opportunity for park visitors to purchase their park entrance passes electronically through YourPassNow beginning on Thursday, June 21, 2018. Once visitors purchase and save their digital pass to their cell phone, or print and bring their purchased pass with them, Rangers will scan their pass at the entrance station. This convenient new service will give visitors the choice of purchasing a park pass in advance, or purchasing a pass in person at the park entrance station. This option is already available to visitors at several National Park Service sites across the country.

Angels Camp, CA...The Angels Camp Museum is offering a great opportunity for children 9 – 12 years old. No previous art experience is required, just a willingness to have fun as we unlock the natural skill kids are born with. Illustrator and Education Coordinator Jim Miller will guide students through a day of “Drawing Nature Step-By-Step.” The lessons will focus on developing observation skills useful in sketching with pencils.
