Murphys, CA...The Bill Welles Band will be the featured performers when the Murphys Community Club’s popular First Fridays in the Park series continues on Friday, August 3, 5:30 p.m. The local band plays a variety of musical styles including Americana, blues, folk and rock and roll. With Welles on guitar, Larry Drummond on mandolin, Ron Schaner on bass, Ray Price on Drums and Fred Treece on guitar the group aims to “create an experience that lifts your spirits and takes you home to your heart.” The members share the vocal chores.

Concerto Night at Bear Valley Music Festival – August 3 at 7 PM

Bear Valley, CA...This concert highlights two long-time members of the Bear Valley Orchestra. Maestro Michael Morgan conducts the Divertimento Concertante for double bass and orchestra by Nino Rota with soloist David Murray, and Vivaldi’s Oboe Concerto in F RV455 with soloist Tom Nugent. The program also includes Pacific Rounds, an orchestral work by rising California composer Chris Wong.

Valley Springs, CA...The 2nd annual Calaveras Wine, Cheese and Olive Festival is back bigger and even better August 4th at the LaContenta Golf Club in Valley Springs. Nestled at the base of the Gold Country foothills, this new, popular festival celebrates the Good Life the miners enjoyed with their riches: Wine, Olives and Cheese. Foothill wineries, some whose grapes harken back to the Gold Rush days, will be pouring their best vintages. Cheese and Olive purveyors, several local to the area, will be offering delicious samples of their craft. Live music and a silent auction will round out the evening.

Arnold, CA...The GABA Arnold Classic Car Show was another great even this year. Every year automotive enthusiasts from the area pencil in the 3rd Saturday in July and bring their rolling automotive are to the show. This year brought an expanded venue with the show moving to White Pines Park. The relaxing setting along White Pines Lake added a relaxed celebratory air to the event.
