Thank You Tom Tryon Monday, March 4, 5:30 p.m. – Camps at Greenhorn Creek
Angels Camp, CA...Friends and associates of former Calaveras County Supervisor Tom Tryon will gather on Monday, March 4 to thank him for his decades of service and to wish him and his wife Denise well.
“A number of people have suggested that the community ought to do something to thank Tom for all his accomplishments during his 28 years as our District 4 supervisor,” states Anne Forrest, CEO of Destination Angels Camp and a Tryon neighbor, who is heading the organizing committee. “In response, we have created a light-hearted, low-key event in keeping with Tom’s persona. Everyone is welcome and we hope many will attend.”
The event will be held at Camps at Greenhorn Creek, starting at 5:30 p.m., and will feature a buffet dinner, a no-host bar, and a lot of conviviality.
Former County Administrative Officer Brent Harrington will serve as emcee.
“This will not be your standard retirement celebration,” promises Harrington. “Two or three people who have known Tom through the years will share some stories and anecdotes. There will be no long speeches, nobody is going to read a proclamation, and there is not going to be a string of vocal well wishers. There is nothing wrong with that kind of event, but it just isn’t Tom.”
The event format will allow ample time for individual interaction with the honored guest and mingling with others in attendance. Everyone is invited to dress casually and arrive expecting to have a good time.
The cost of the event is $30 per person and reservations are necessary. To make a reservation call Camps at 736-8181.
