Wild West Bass Pro/Am is Heading to Northern California’s Tuolumne County
Sonora, CA...For the first time in Tuolumne County (“To-All-O-Me”) Don Pedro Lake will host the Wild West Bass Pro/Am. Sponsored by the Tuolumne County Visitors Bureau this event will take place March 2-4 and is expected to bring in over 200 professional and amateur anglers. Located in the heart of Gold Country and the gateway to Yosemite, Don Pedro is the sixth-largest reservoir in California and is packed full of Largemouth, Smallmouth, and Spotted Bass making it a prime location for the pro/am.

Catch all the bass action- The events are scheduled at Fleming Meadows Marina, 11500 Bonds Flat Rd, La Grange, CA 95329. Daily events include Facebook Live Videos, Interviews, Weigh-Ins, and How-to Tips from Pros like Ken Mah and Vince Hurtado. Anglers are expecting to bag 20-25lb bass making the daily 3 pm Weigh-Ins a must-see event. For schedule, information and directions, https://www.wildwestbasstrail.com/don-pedro/.

Adventure outside the fishing zone- From Don Pedro Lake take Highway 132 to Highway 120 for the short and scenic drive to Yosemite National Park. This time of year is one of the best to come visit Yosemite National Park as visitors will get the grand park experience without the crowds. The weather is brisk, making it perfect for day hiking. March has great water flow and is popular for waterfall sightseeing. Get the prime Yosemite experience with Hetch Hetchy Reservoir that combines waterfalls with hikes. Visitors can walk across the dam to a series of waterfalls for a powerful negative ion blast along the path.

Things to do after the fish quit biting- From Lake Don Pedro take J-59 Highway 108 up to Historic Jamestown, home to Railtown 1897 State Historic Park. Here viewing the locomotives or taking a tour the of the roundhouse is like taking a step back in history. The State Park admission ranges from free-$5 dollars depending on age and is open daily until 3 pm, http://railtown1897.org/index.php/visitor-information/general-information. After the history lesson sip some wine in local tasting rooms at Inner Sanctum Cellars, open until 7 pm Friday and Saturday, and Gianelli Vineyards, open until 6 pm Friday and Saturday. There are many dining establishments in Historic Jamestown, one being the 1859 National Hotel and Restaurant where gold is accepted as payment. Tucked away around a street corner is Stogies Gold Country Lounge featuring live entertainment, liquor, and fine cigars http://stogiesgoldcountry.com/. Walk off the full stomachs and wine buzzes while shopping in all the charming antique and eclectic shops that line the streets.

Play with the Pros- Black Oak Casino Resort has thirteen-hundred slot machines, twenty-six table games, and a large non-smoking gaming area. The all-new Willow Creek Lounge features free live entertainment on Friday and Saturday. There are a plethora of restaurants and bars. A favorite is Seven Sisters a fine dining restaurant with a wide-ranging menu. Top that all off with a family fun floor featuring a 24-lane Brunswick Bowling Center and a full game arcade with the world’s largest Pac-Man and Galaga game, https://www.blackoakcasino.com/.

About Yosemite’s Tuolumne County
Tuolumne (rhymes with “follow me”) County, located 133 miles/200 km east of San Francisco, is a pristine, scenic expanse reaching into the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Gold was discovered in Tuolumne County in 1848, setting off the major gold rush of 1849. The main highways leading to the picturesque drive from the San Francisco and East Bay Area are Highways 108 and 120 from the west and Highway 49 from the north. The State Highway 120 entrance to Yosemite National Park is considered the “front door” of the park for the San Francisco Greater Bay Area. The Stanislaus National Forest, Yosemite National Park, and other surrounding areas provide natural vistas and settings for hiking, water skiing, horseback riding, rafting, camping, snowmobiling, boating, snow skiing, fishing and other outdoor activities. Seven restored historic hotels, four golf courses, numerous and varied dining establishments, historic saloons, five wineries and hard cider distillery, train rides, casino, seven museums, two state historic parks, five live theaters, and many bed-and-breakfast inns are among the many other attributes that make the county a year-round vacation destination. www.visittuolumne.com
