Celebrate the Season with a Local Tradition and a Holiday Classic: Studio 4 Dance Theater’s “The
Angels Camp, CA...It’s beginning to look a lot like… Nutcracker! Studio 4 Dance Theater will present the ninth annual production of the holiday classic “The Nutcracker” ballet, December 14-16, 2017 at the Bret Harte Theater in Angels Camp. Reserved seats for this acclaimed annual production are available for lower-priced advance purchase beginning November 9, 2017 at www.studio4dancetheater.com. Every year, Studio 4 Dance Theater offers a fresh version of Tchaikovsky’s “Nutcracker,” the classic holiday tale of Clara’s dreamlike adventures with her Nutcracker Prince. The professional-quality production has become the highlight of the local holiday season, with return audiences and sold-out performances year after year. This year’s “Nutcracker” will feature some exciting and ambitious technical surprises.
Sixty-three dancers will appear in Studio 4 Dance Theater’s 2017 production of “The Nutcracker.” Artistic Director Tammie Lee has double-cast the role of Clara to offer another exciting new twist: on Thursday evening and Saturday afternoon, Ruby Eustis-Smith will dance the role of Clara, and on Friday and Saturday evenings Clara will be played by Jillian Buteau. Madison Pelland will portray the Dew Drop Fairy, Taylor Wilson will be the Mouse Queen, and Michaela Jarnagin will be the Snow Queen. Archer Bitner will make his first appearance with the company as the Nutcracker Prince; with special guest Kathy Mazzaferro appearing as Mrs. Gingerbread. Damian Homer-Goltz will dance the role of the Cavalier; and Molly Johnson and Tim Smith will return as the Sugar Plum Fairy and Dr. Drosselmeyer.
“We have a magnificent cast this year and I'm so thrilled that two of our very talented principal dancers will be dancing the role of Clara,” said Tammie Lee. “We are always trying something new and exciting to keep our audiences coming back, and this year is no exception!”
“The Nutcracker” is appropriate for all ages, and is just about two hours long including an intermission with treats, warm beverages, and chances to win an amazing array of nearly 40 raffle baskets. There will be a “Meet and Greet” for photos with the Sugar Plum Fairy and other cast members immediately following the Saturday matinee.
Many local businesses and individuals have supported Studio 4 Dance Theater by sponsoring the production, donating raffle prizes, or advertising in the printed program. Wintercreek Foundation has awarded the company another generous grant, and major sponsors this year include 1st Impressions Dentistry, Lunch Lady Catering, Murphys Pourhouse, Pelland Enterprises, The Buteau Family, The Epperly and Vuilleumier Families, David and Melissa Wagner, Joe Thorton Logging, John Lux, Timothy J. O'Connor D.D.S., Vino Metate Winery, and Waiaki Fishing.
