Firefighters Answer Call to rescue Local Economy: Association announces endorsement of Trinitas Project
Jenny Lind, CA...The Jenny Lind Firefighter Association has answered the call to stand up and support issues that encourage economic development in the community. “The association has voted to unanimously support Trinitas as a project that will help to defend our local economy by creating jobs and significant tax revenue to fund essential public safety services and fire protection infrastructure in our community” says association President Roy Estakhri...
The Jenny Lind Fire District is funded through property tax assessments, as real estate values shrink and are reassessed, funding for the district will fall substantially. “We currently have only two fulltime positions from 9am to 5pm Monday through Friday for the Jenny Lind fire station. The after-hours and weekend calls are all staffed by volunteers. Trinitas can only make our area more desirable and will have a positive impact on real estate values and could thus help stabilize the area property values.” says Estakhri.
The Calaveras County Code has long recognized golf courses as “green belts” that can be significant in reducing the threat of wildfires in rural areas. In July, Trinitas unveiled the first of two pressurized fire hydrants located along Ospital Road that run off of the golf course. “In the world of rural fire fighting water availability is crucial, having high pressure water in that area of the district is definitely an edge for our ground efforts.” Says Estakhri. Trinitas is also home to nearly 30 acres of year around ponds that have been frequently used to support helicopter based fire fighting operations.
The Jenny Lind Firefighters Association has joined a long list of community organizations led by the Calaveras County Deputy Sheriffs Association, The Calaveras County Taxpayers Association, Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce, San Joaquin- Calaveras Building and trades Unions, and the Central Labor Council in endorsing the Trinitas Project.
