Admission Bargain Sits Well with Fun-Seekers for the 1st Annual Chairs for Charity!
Murphys, CA....The bargain admission price of just $25 per person is sitting well with fun-seekers interested in an evening of high energy art and music at the upcoming Calaveras Chairs for Charity event in Murphys. This unique fundraiser on January 31 combines fine art with funky craftsmanship and good old-fashioned fun. It includes a live auction of chair art by professional artists; a silent auction of chairs created by area community non-profit groups and individuals; and rounds of Xtreme Musical Chairs....
Artist Pete Kelly is an early entry in the upcoming Chairs for Charity
event with his whimsical “Art Throne.”
The event begins at 6 p.m. at the Native Sons Hall in Murphys. Doug Brown of Murphys will be the emcee/ auctioneer and amazing appetizers will be provided by Jenny’s Kitchen of Murphys. Maestros of the Xtreme Musical Chairs competition are Lynne Greer of Mokelumne Hill and Julie Youngblood of San Andreas. A no-host bar will be provided by the Native Sons.

Calaveras Chairs for Charity is a joint fund-raiser produced by three community organizations to benefit the many programs they provide to enrich the lives of local residents. Sponsors are the Calaveras Community Foundation, the Calaveras County Arts Council and Soroptimists International of Calaveras County. A percentage of the profits will be returned to participating artists and non-profit groups.
Entries are still open. Chairs must be completed and delivered to the Arts Council Gallery by Jan. 15. For entry information contact the Arts Council at 754-1774.
