WATCH Program Workers Help Clean Columbia College Campus
Columbia College and WATCH Resources have finalized an agreement for contracted services to remove litter in parking lots on the college campus. Starting October 27, a team of WATCH workers will maintain the student parking areas and stairwells on Mondays and Thursdays. The workers are also enrolled as students in the college’s adaptive physical education classes.....

Located in East Sonora, WATCH supports adults with disabilities in becoming as independent and integrated into the community as they are able. This, of course, is by agreement with each individual and based on his or her own choices.
WATCH currently has over 40 contracts with for-profit and nonprofit businesses, as well as city, county and state service providers to offer a wide range of services performed locally by adults with developmental disabilities. Among them are basic landscaping tasks, litter removal, recycling removal, window washing, janitorial/housekeeping, bulk mailings and packaging, as well as working in the Good Stuff stores in Sonora and Angels Camp.
“In addition, we are open to and capable of doing other simple repetitive tasks,” said Dan Briseno, WATCH job developer. “I like the aspect of our folks being proud of achieving a task, giving back to the community, and earning their ‘own’ money to spend as they see fit just like anyone else.”
According to Jon Sterling, Columbia College’s campus operations manager, “We are pleased to have the contract with WATCH. It’s a great way for the college to meet our campus maintenance needs, and also participate together with our community in supporting a very worthwhile group.”
For inquiries about WATCH services, Briseno can be contacted at 533-0510 ext. 15, office; 559-3323, cell; or dbriseno@watchresources.info.
