Angels Camp, CA...(Frogtown, USA)..An update on the fair..."The Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee's board and staff would like to sincerely thank our community of volunteers, vendors, contracted services, committees, local government, locaLlaw enforcement, entertainers, auction buyers and sponsors for their unwavering support and committment. Due to the efforts of many, the 2024 Jubilee was a success. Working together, the 2024 event exceeded all expectations.
The unaudited fair attendance was 37,500. The Industrial Arts Auction surpassed $35,000. The Junior Livestock Auction raised over 1.2 million dollars for the youth of Calaveras County. The Junior Fairboard, Miss Calaveras, Junior Livestock and Rodeo Queen programs awarded 16 scholarships for future education.
The Fair was excited to honor the Sender family of Mountain Ranch. The Breaking Boundaries livestock show gave kids with disabilities a chance to show an animal. Lillian Fasano came close to breaking the world record with her winning Frog Jump of 20'5". So many memories made, friendships forged and fair-food devoured.
We love you Calaveras County and thank you!"

The Biden administration is scrambling to close an intelligence sharing gap after at least six people on the terror watchlist were let into the US over the last two years.
Men with ties to US-designated terror groups including Somalia’s al Shabaab and Afghanistan’s Hezb-e-Islami (HEB) were all vetted by border officers and allowed into the US, before later being found to be on watchlists.
Under current rules, immigration judges and asylum officers — who interview migrants to see if they qualify for entry into the US — are barred from accessing certain classified information held by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which would help them make better decisions about whether migrants are terrorists or national security threats.

Authorities in Louisiana have arrested a number of men believed to belong to the Tren de Aragua gang in connection with an alleged sex trafficking operation involving illegal immigrants. The suspects, Allbert Javier Herrera Machado, Osleidy Vanesa Chourio Diaz, and Josmar Jesus Zambrano Chirinos, were apprehended by law enforcement at different stages of the investigation.
The men are accused of having pimped out one of the victims, a young woman from Venezuela, for sex to pay off a debt after they helped her and her family into the United States. She and the other victims helped identify their roles in the operation.
According to a complaint reviewed by WAFB, the victim was recruited into a scheme by members of the gang when she was in Venezuela. They promised to handle everything for her and her family in exchange for $30,000, which she later learned she'd have to pay off via prostitution.
Upon arriving in the US, she began doing sex work in Texas. After a while, she was offered help by investigators in Baton Rouge, however she declined out of fear Tren de Aragua would hurt her family. In April, the gang flew her out to the Louisiana capital where she was housed in an apartment with another female victim.
Machado was allegedly the middleman between men and the victims, organizing sexual encounters between them, keeping track of how much debt was left to pay off, and ensuring they adhered to the house rules.
When police executed a search warrant at the apartment and arrested Machado, he claimed to have been hired by a friend and that he was unaware of how serious the operation was. He is being held in state custody, though he may be transferred to federal custody in the near future.
Diaz and Chirinos were revealed by the victims and those familiar with the matter to be the "b*tch" and "brains", respectively, of the American operation. The latter allegedly oversaw up to 30 women in multiple states. They are both being held in federal custody.
As WAFB reports, the whereabouts and wellbeing of the victims is unknown.

An illegal immigrant is back in custody after being arrested for the tenth time in as many months. Since arriving in Chicago last summer, Carlos Mavarez Viloria has been booked on charges ranging from shoplifting to possession of drug paraphernalia. Viloria was released the previous nine times, however his most recent arrest was his first felony, meaning even if he is freed, he will have to abide by certain conditions.
According to CWBChicago, Viloria was apprehended on May 15 in downtown Chicago's Pritzker Park on shoplifting charges. The TJ Maxx on 11 North State Street had alerted police that they had reason to believe he had stolen $450 worth of merchandise from them on four occassions between April 9 and May 7.
During the arrest, Viloria struggled with officers, pushing one of them to the ground, causing injuries to their hand and arm. In addition to the shoplifting charges, he was hit with reckless conduct, resisting arrest, and felony aggravated battery of a peace officer.
Viloria was subsequently taken to Cook County Jail, where he has remained. The judge overseeing his case, Ankur Srivastava, issued a ruling permitting him to be released so long as he agrees to electronic monitoring, however as of Monday he was still in custody.
Viloria was first arrested on July 12 for theft of 10 baseball caps, watches, and food from a local Walmart. The total value of the goods was $193. He failed to appear in court, and a warrant was issued for his arrest. The next day, officers apprehended him near a Macy's from which he was accused of having attempted to steal $158 worth of clothing.
In August, he was arrested for allegedly possessing a crack pipe, then three months later, he was taken into custody again for shoplifting and narcotics possession. Arrests five to eight involved more shoplifting, allegedly threatening to shoot a convenience store employee, and entering a store after being prohibited from doing so. His ninth arrest was for selling clothes without a permit.
Eight of the aforementioned nine cases were dropped, with Viloria only serving seven days for the first Walmart incident. Whether he gets any time for the tenth set of charges remains to be seen.
