Calaveras County is Seeking Community Input on Parks Master Plan

San Andreas, CA...Outdoor spaces and amenities for all ages are valuable and essential to Calaveras County. In September of 2023 Calaveras County contracted with O’Dell Engineering to create the County’s first Parks Master Plan. A Parks Master Plan provides an abundance of benefits to a community including, but not limited to; assessing current and future recreation needs of the community, establishing a long-range vision, prioritizing capital improvement projects, strategizing to fill gaps and reduce redundancies within the parks systems, building community support, promoting new ideas and partnerships, and encouraging new opportunities for future development.

The Parks Master Plan will encompass the following County parks and facilities:

Alex Quinones Park, San Andreas (leased to San Andreas Recreation and Park District -SARPD)
Nielson Park, San Andreas (leased to San Andreas Recreation and Park District – SARPD)
Mountain Ranch Community Park (leased to Mountain Ranch Community Club – MRCC)
Murphys Park, Murphys (leased to Murphys Community Club – MCC)
Rail Road Flat Community Center, Rail Road Flat (leased to Blue Mountain Community Renewal Council – BMCRC)
A comprehensive plan is backed by the community. Calaveras’ Parks Master planning will engage residents throughout the County through several community meetings and an online survey. The goal of the community meetings and online survey is to analyze the current programs and facilities and to consider the community needs and aspirations.

The Community Meetings will be held at 5:30 PM on the following dates:

Wednesday April 3rd, 2024, Calaveras County Firehouse, 6501 Jenny Lind Rd Valley Springs
Thursday April 4th, 2024, Governor’s Mansion, 101 Stone Street Copperopolis
Thursday April 11th, 2024, West Point Community Hall 22283 State Route 26 West Point
Wednesday April 17th, 2024, Native Sons Hall 389 Main Street Murphy’s
Thursday April 18th, 2024, Jenny Lind Veterans Memorial 300 W Daphne Street Valley Springs
If you cannot attend any of the community meetings, an online survey will be available 3/29/24 through 4/25/24, the link can be found on our website. If you have any questions, you can email the County at ParksandRec@calaverascounty.gov
