The young lady is Lily Butler , Lily was the 2021 Calaveras Rodeo Queen and the 2022 Amador Rodeo Queen.
It says the driver of the truck was passing slower traffic.
I heard about this on the radio. All because the driver was in a hurry, this young lady was killed.

Condolences to her family and friends

Just couldn't wait - had to go around slower vehicles. Everyone learn a lesson from this. Prayers for the 17 year old and her family and friends for strength to cope with this tragic loss, and prayers for strength to cope for the 61 year old and family who will live with this for the rest of their lives.

why can't everyone just slow the hell down. Everyone seems to be in a hurry nowdays. Leave early to get where you're going and take your time.
I've been traveling to the valley every day fro the last 7 weeks and have 2 more weeks to go. Have watch people pass on blind turns at a high rate of speed, pass and run others off the road because they can't wait. What is wrong with people. This guy just took a young girls life because he was in a hurry and couldn't wait, for what? He need prison time and not a slap on the wrist

This is beyond tragic! The new breed of Gay Bay drivers up here need to pass a driving test before being allowed to drive on our hiway and biways! Way too much tailgating, too much speeding, too much passing where you shouldn’t, it takes a tragedy like this to bring it home! This poor family will go into Christmas every year going forward with this mess in their lives, how sad! The hiway patrol is out there, you see some of these situations, start pulling dangerous drivers over, in other words, start doing your job, instead of hanging out at Starbucks!
There are no words that will make this any better for her family, so sad you had to experience this.

The hiway patrol has become a joke, multiple cars and trucks running around the county with blacked out windows, totally against the law, they approach groups of cars, some tailgating, no one turns around and pulls them over, on and on it goes, start getting your asses out there sitting along the roads where these hot spots happen and start writing tickets, I dare you, we used to have Hiway Patrol officers that did their job, these new breed is worthless, low ride in you cruises, what the hell is your goal, public safety isn’t one of them, the proof is in the pudding, do your job or get the hell out of our county!
