The 45th Annual Mountain Heirloom Quilt Faire is Oct 20, 21 & 22 at Frogtown!

Angels Camp, CA...(Frogtown, USA)...A new venue, but our same quality show – featuring small to large traditional quilts, art quilts, wearable art, dolls, needle art, and the Guild Member Challenge. We also have a large variety of vendors on-site with quilting merchandise and goodies for non-quilting visitors.

Independence Hall Quilters Guild

MISSION STATEMENT
Independence Hall Quilters is dedicated to promoting and preserving the art and craft of quilting through fellowship, education, and community outreach.

OUR GOALS
Our association goals include but are not limited to the following:

Provide our members with learning experiences where they can use and develop quilting skills.
Organize and present an annual Quilt Faire to display the work of our guild for our community and to raise money to continue our mission.
Maintain an active and current library of quilting and needlework books.
Create an annual Scholarship Quilt to be raffled to raise money to provide scholarships for local high school students planning to attend college.
Create a supply of “comfort” quilts and pillowcases to be donated to various charitable organizations in the community, such as Child Protective Services (CPS) and the Sheriff’s Department.
Create an American Doll package to be raffled to raise money which will be used to fund a supplemental arts program at a Calaveras County school.
In addition to the goals stated above, contribute up to 10% of the previous year’s Quilt Faire net profits to philanthropic or scholarship programs with the approval of the Board, e.g. the local food bank, community hospice, etc.
Now with all that being said about our organizational purpose…
Let me tell you about Us, The Members.

As quilting goes, we range from Beginners to Experts. We have members that are in their teens and some in their 90s. A good portion of our 100+ members are native Motherlode Country folk, and the rest of us have immigrated from the S.F. Bay Area (a.k.a., the flatlands). In case you are thinking that there must be rivalries or “cliques”, nothing is farther from the truth. Those new to the mountains learn a lot about mountain living and survival from the natives. The mountain women hear about the horror of living in today’s cities and are happy they stayed put.

We Love Taking Classes!
Without dropping names, our guild has local gals that are renowned artists. A watercolorist well-known in the area and a multi-media artist who tiled the Arnold Library’s wall last year. A must-see up close next time you’re in town.

Our guild is proud to brag about our own international quilt designer that has patterns featured in Quiltmania. She sometimes hosts member-only classes to teach us how to put her lovely quilt patterns together. If she wasn’t such a good teacher and so much fun, not many of us would feel confident enough to attempt making 56-piece (or more) blocks.

And this year, we are happy to announce that we are officially a co-ed guild! Thanks to a certain male scientist who happens to be an experienced quilter that joined our ranks in March.

Event occurs on 10/20/2023 from All Day to .
