Louis Monroe Scott 1943 - 2023

Angels Camp, CA...Louis Monroe Scott 1/31/1943 - 10/10/2023. Lou was born in San Francisco to Jim and Marie (Herwig) Scott and raised in Sunnyvale, California. He was the oldest of five children (three brothers and one sister). Lou graduated from Sunnyvale High School in 1960 and attended Foothill College for one year before joining the Army in 1961. He served three years in Germany as a Sergeant and loved his time in the military. Following his military service, Lou spent his life working as a butcher (although he would say technically he was a meat cutter).

He started at Bo’s Market in Sunnyvale when he was 15 years old and worked at Race Street Fish Market upon returning to the states. Although he worked at many chain markets, his greatest joy was working at Angels Food Market!

Lou married his wife, Lynne, in 1987 and was blessed to gain not only a wife but four children, (Jim Wilson, John Wilson, Diane Wilson-Eastman, and Eileen Tierney) over time ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren were added to the family. Lou and Lynne had 36 wonderful years together. They were fortunate to do a lot of traveling with many trips to Europe.

It was Lou’s request to not have any services. In lieu of flowers, Lou would appreciate donations to the Humane Society as he had a great love affair with dogs. Lou was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Linda, and his brother, Allan.

Lou's expertise was always appreciated whenever we bought meat at Angels Food Market. He will be missed by so many.

I remember Lou very well. I remember them all through growing up he was always in the meat department with a smile and a friendly hello. I was just wondering the other day where he was and what he'd been up to since hadn't seen him in the market in a long while. It saddens me to read about his passing. Thoughts and prayers are with his family
