Boat Operator Lands Himself in Trouble for Beaching Boat while Boating Under the Influence
Copperopolis, CA...On September 2nd, 2023, at approximately 6:05 p.m., deputies were dispatched to Lake Tulloch in response to reports of a boating accident. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a 23-foot 2001 black and white International boat crashed into a privately owned beach west of the O’Byrnes Ferry Bridge in Copperopolis. The operator of the vessel, 21-year-old David Foxx of Felton, CA, had two juvenile passengers on board during the incident.

The initial investigation indicated that the boat was traveling on Lake Tulloch at about 30 MPH when it struck the shoreline and subsequently launched onto the beach. One of the juvenile passengers received medical attention on the scene for minor injuries and was released. Foxx was investigated on suspicion of boating under the influence (BUI) and ultimately cited for the offense.
Alcohol consumption on board a boat affects not only the operator but all passengers. Refresh your knowledge about the dangers of boating under the influence here: https://dbw.parks.ca.gov/.../files/FS_Alcohol_05.2018.pdf
