Now we need to force them to provide our county with the local to source power. The power they deceptively provide from their hydro electrical project (Dam) pumping away our water also to the cities to make that power for the cities. It is just wrong, and they have screwed our county for too long now.
They have Northern California Power Agency, based in Roseville, with an office in Murphy's run it for them. They are providing power strung through huge towers and transmission lines that run through our county to cities around California at less expensive rates than we all get from PG&E.
Calaveras County should have the cleaner Hydro Water Power that they produce with our finite water resources to produce it. Why would this not be? Less huge transmission towers and lines to maintain by providing power to the local county its' power source is in, would be less expensive to maintain.
After a record rainfall/snow pack year why is CCWD raising rates? They should be giving customers a rebate not a rate increase. Compare CCWD staffing levels to CPUD?? CCWD has a Taj Mahal per a small efficient office at CPUD.
There is no financial accountability from the “Rubber Stamp” water board.
And ....they need to be forced to provide us all the raw water for farming, and all uses other than just the expensive treated drinking water. Most people would never use the treated water for watering yards, washing vehicles, laundry, etc. etc.
We would have many organic food farms spring up for our community. Healthy food in our local stores and restaurants locally grown.
Give us our locally produced, creator given water first, before it is corruptly sold and shipped to Southern California. That water that you are pumping out to Melones Reservoir, that then goes into a mix of other California mountain water at Bellota, then straight out to Southern California.
Any new drinking water lines they are installing anywhere in the county, need to have a raw water line ran right next to them.
So with all of your whining and protest letters you could not stop the rate increases. Too bad. How does it feel to be defeated? Now just pay your water bill and STFU!

This will push many of us way over our limits. As a senior who moved to a tiny condo in hopes of making ends meet, I was very surprised at the high fee CCWD charges for water/sewer....I pay approx 150 per mo. For water and sewer now. Tiny condo, no kids, no pets, no lawn....limit my water usage, and am paying that much. And it'll double in 3 years.300.00 a month by then? What's wrong with this picture?
A lot of us seniors, disabled and so on will be homeless if this keeps up. I have written letters begging not to raise rates. They don't care.
And, to top it off, this includes the discount I get for being on the poverty level.

Yes, you could finance projects over 30 year terms to ease the burden. An agenda is somebody’s it just doesn’t happen by itself. Leadership makes the choices and decisions and changes in leadership can vastly change outcomes. Decisions are made based on assumptions and perceptions and unbalanced decisions making processes can have harmful consequences. Good intentions don’t always result in reasonable decisions and that’s what we’re dealing with here.

For those who can't understand much (it seems many) I offer some facts.
#1 The present CCWD water infrastructure is steel . Steel corrodes, it's called oxidation. The steel delivery pipes are old, and needs to be replaced.
This is why the rates must go up; to replace aged water delivery infrastructure.
#2 Gasoline prices depend on crude oil prices, a world traded commodity. It has nothing to do with Biden, to think so shows ignorance. The Russians, Saudi Arabia, and their OPEC oil exporting countries have reduced delivery of crude oil. This drives up the price of gasoline. The best answer is to power your vehicles from solar, many have the ability to have solar, they should invest. Payback is usually in less than 9 years, with savings (gas, propane) .
History shows the economy, especially energy is controlled by conservative (Republicans) in an attempt to have Democrats lose in 2024. The data shows this clearly. Voters vote on pocket book issues.
