Scenic Celebration- Hermit Valley, The Rockin’ Stop!~By Kris Fichtner

Hermit Valley was the place to be Saturday for the Scenic Celebration! The weather was gorgeous, with plenty of sunshine, shade from the plentiful forest, and a gentle cooling breeze. Live music was provided by the mellow tunes of The Tour Guides, and the eclectic funk of Electric Zowie who kept the crowd entertained with plenty of bass guitar and flow-of-consciousness lyrics often inspired by what was going on in the crowd. Delectable refreshments, food and sweets were available for purchase by Lunch Lady Catering, and the.....

Byway ladies were stamping passports left and right for happy cruisers, locals and tourists alike. Locals Jim Jarvie and Sheryl Draper were the first to enter their completed passports at Hermit Valley, having each stop’s stamp in place. Forest ranger Susie Lewis was on hand to educate and entertain visitors with the interesting history of Hermit Valley, and to hand out Smokey the Bear stickers, pencils and coloring books to the youngsters.

Station organizer Ron Schaner, ever the gracious host, bustled about making sure everyone was enjoying their day as well as rocking the house during the first round of music! He said the day was “A wonderful event for people to relax, hear live music, and to see the Forest Service teaming up with the community.” Most who came, stayed for some of the fun and all left with a smile.
