A Passport for the Artists Studio is Needed This Weekend for the 3rd Annual Calaveras Artists Studio!
Calaveras County, CA....These are the tools you’ll need for a fun-filled, artsy weekend in Calaveras: a Passport for the Artists Studio Tour and an eye for following the fuchsia pink signs that will guide you to the studios. We’re talking about the last weekend in September, the 27th and 28th when the 3rd annual Calaveras Artists Studio Tour swings into action, with over 40 artists opening their doors to the public on a self-guided car-tour. Buy your Passport for $10 a person at one of many outlets or from the first artist you visit.....
The headquarters is Gallery Calaveras at 22 Main Street in San Andreas, where you can go in advance and check out the art by each of the artists on the tour. Seeing representative works will help you decide which artists you would like to discover and possibly to buy art from directly. An Artists Reception for the Studio Tour is this Saturday, September 13 in Gallery Calaveras from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. After that, you may visit the show weekdays, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
During the actual Studio Tour on September 27 and 28, the hours that the studios will be open are 10:00 am to 5:00 pm both days. The Passport lists all the artists according to their towns with sample color photographs of their works and precise directions to their studios. A map is also included. Please note that Galen Hazelhofer’s address is incorrect in the Passport. She’s actually located at 2044 Vista del Lago Dr., off Highway 26.
Here are the outlets where you may purchase the Studio Tour Passports: In Angels Camp—the Calaveras Visitors Bureau; in Murphys – Diane’s Frameplace in the El Dorado Bank Plaza at the stoplight; in Arnold – Harbinger Gallery on Oak Circle; Foothill Printing Shop and Action Realty in the Big Trees / Meadowmont Center; in Jackson – Add Art Framing on Main Street; in Sonora – Mountain Book Shop in the Junction Plaza; in Mountain Ranch – Stark Realty at 8020 Mountain Ranch Rd; in Valley Springs—Health Habit at Hwy 26 and Vista del Largo; in San Andreas – at the Gallery Calaveras, home of the Calaveras County Arts Council. The latter can answer your questions at (209)754-1774. Or, visit www.calaverasarts.org.
