New Hogan Vegetation Management Project (VMP) Burn Begins February 21
Rancho Calaveras, CA...California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit will be completing hazardous fuel reduction burning in the vicinity of Slate Cove within the community of Rancho Calaveras in Calaveras County on Tuesday, February 21, 2023.
The treatment area encompasses approximately 200 acres in three separate units. Weather conditions are forecasted to be favorable for ignition and 10-15 acres will be burned.
The burn is anticipated to begin between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. and is expected to last 6 to 8 hours. The public may see smoke or fire during these times near Hogan Dam Road and Slate Cove. CAL FIRE Personnel will patrol the ignited area until declared out.

Can’t wait till CDF burns Melones again, what a beautiful sight for visitors to the resivoir to see! Many of these “he men” fire boys have roamed around Murphys, Arnold, and Angels Camp, being paid full time to do what? What a scam these guys and girls have worked on the Calabama tax payers! No oversight, no nothing,drive the white trucks on our dime, while getting paid to what? FTD
