Bret Harte, Purple and Gold Football Scrimmage ~By Hanna Alldrin
Angels Camp, CA.... "Football is like life, it requires perseverance, self-denial, hard work sacrifice, dedication and respect for authority," Vince Lombardi. The Bret Harte football season won't be in full swing for another few weeks, but for those of you who couldn't wait any longer, Saturday provided a hearty appetizer of what's to come. The Bret Harte football teams competed in the annual "Purple and Gold" scrimmage......

All three teams, Frosh, JV and Varsity competed in the weekend scrimmage. The Frosh and JV had a 45 minute scrimmage.
Because the weekends games were scrimmages no official scores have been reported, however coaches shared that the JV won the game with four sold touchdowns.
The Varsity football team was split into two different teams, Purple and Gold. After many hits, blocks and touchdowns, the purple team came on top.
The game was close with only a couple of points difference. The unofficial score was 34 or 30. Again because the game was a scrimmage scores were not officially reported.
The football season officially starts on September 5th . With the fierce competition this weekend, fans and family are in for a real sporty treat this season.
