Public Comments on Trinitas, Land and Use Permit for New Jail and Flood Mapping Highlight Board of Supervisors Meeting ~By John Hamilton Updated with full 3 1/2 hour official video enclosed

San Andreas, CA...Calaveras County Board of Supervisors Meeting Report for August 19, 2008. Michelle Nemee addressed the Board during Public Comment on inaccuracies she feels are in the Draft EIR for the Ridge At Trinitas Project. Now that the Revised Draft EIR has been released the public comment will no doubt pick up steam again. Also on the agenda today was a Public Hearing on the new jail. The bulk of the bonds have been sold and the money has already been transfered to the county. This mornings actionable items included...

approving a Mitigated Negative Declaration for the purchase of the property for the new criminal justice center. The Board also approved Initiating a General Plan Amendment, Zoning Amendment and Conditional Use Permit for the proposed facility. All of the Jail Related measures passed on 5-0 votes.

Also back before the board was the revisions to the Flood Damage Prevention Control Ordinance. The Board passed this item as well on a 5-0 vote. It was passed knowing that some in the affected property owners in the Vallecito area still have not seen there situations improve in relation to the new flood plane mapping. Board Members including Tryon, Callaway & Wilensky expressed hope that the revised mapping would alleviate some of their concerns.

They also had a study session today on the county fees. This will be part of the Official Video. The video below starts a couple of minutes into public comment and was filmed with one of our small handhelds. The professional version will replace this one tomorrow. Update Official Video Below
