The 4th Annual Hoedown for Habitat in Murphys Draws A Crowd

Murphys, CA....Several Hundred showed up on Saturday to show their support for Habitat For Humanity Calaveras. We stopped by as the event was winding down just before 8pm and their still was a good sized crowd on hand. One attendee we spoke with put the peak crowd numbers between 400 & 500 so they were Hoeing Down indeed.

About Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity Calaveras (HfHC) provides home ownership to responsible local families who cannot afford it on their own. Together with volunteers, these families partner with us to build a simple but modern home that they then buy on very favorable terms.

Habitat's houses are affordable because:

* Houses are built at low cost by volunteers and the benefiting Habitat families.
* Homes are sold at cost to the Habitat families.
* Mortgages are interest-free.

Who benefits? We all do!

* Habitat families obtain decent living conditions and build equity, without receiving charity.
* Volunteers benefit from the personal involvement of people helping people.
* Donors benefit from knowing that their tax-deductible donations are used efficiently for local needs. And now you can support us by shopping at our on-line Shopping Mall; just click on Shop for Habitat
* The community benefits from an increased pool of affordable housing, while having fun supporting us
