Copperopolis Youths Honored in Absentia on Thursday Night...Video Enclosed

Copperopolis, CA...Jessica Maschal, Monica Maschal & Hanna Stamer along with Law Enforcement and Fire Personnel were honored last night at Copperopolis Town Square's "Live From The Gazebo". The girl's soccer practice ran long so they didn't quite make it in time to be honored in person...

Vince & Sally Iannarelli thanking Sheriff Deputy Paul Newnam

They were honored for going above and beyond their neighborly duties in preventing the spread of fire to adjacent homes under what could have been very risky circumstances in this weeks fire and suicide in Copperopolis.

The Copperopolis Substation Sheriff Deputy Paul Newnam was on hand to accept the thanks of the residents for his departments actions during the event. Vince & Sally Iannarelli offered the community's thanks at the close of their music set.

As you may recall 46 year old James Arno Watt set a house on fire, held fire and emergency crews and bay, killed several dogs and cats and took his own life. Fire & Sheriff personnel tried to prevent him from taking his own life but were unsuccessful.

This fire had the potential to spread throughout the neighborhood and was prevented from doing so by quick thinking of friends, neighbors and strategic well placed air drops by CAL-FIRE retardant and water drops. The home was a complete loss. The dollar amount of the losses is estimated at over $500,000
