Probation Search Leads to Arrest for Weapons Violation

West Point, CA...On January 25th, 2022, at about 9:00 AM, Calaveras County Sheriff’s deputies and Calaveras County Probation officers conducted a probation search at a residence located in the 400 block of Main Street, West Point. The purpose of the search was to ensure that Nicholas Harley Caspary, age 32, from West Point, CA, was complying with the terms and conditions of his probation.

Upon arrival, Suspect Nicholas Caspary fled the residence as deputies secured the scene. Deputies and probation officers searched the area however, they did not locate Caspary. Deputies focused their efforts on searching the residence. During the search of the residence, deputies and probation officers found 21 firearms (rifles, shotguns, and handguns), over 2,000 rounds of ammunition in various calibers, and illegal firearms accessories.

During the investigation, it was discovered that a female, identified as Tonya Elaine Rogers (age 43 of West Point) was living in the residence and prohibited from possessing firearms. Suspect Rogers was arrested and transported to the Calaveras County Jail.

Suspect Rogers was charged with 29800(A)(1) PC prohibited person in possession of firearms (Felony), 30305 (A)(1) PC prohibited person in possession of ammunition (Felony) and 148 (A)(1) PC obstruct a peace officer in the performance of duties (misdemeanor). Tonya Rogers is being held with a bail of $35,000.

Detectives were contacted and responded to the residence to assist with additional searching of the residence, processing evidence and furthering the investigation.

This is an ongoing investigation at this time.

We think of Calaveras as a relatively safe place but this? Seems like QAnons and other extreme Trumpsters who think themselves patriots just waiting for their chance.

Scum has always came here to hide out. It's always been like this. Most everyone has guns to protect themselves here. It's just not safe for you.

How many firearms does a person need to protect oneself? Competently, you can only shoot one at a time.
Not even one decent hunting rifle among the bunch.
Makes me wonder what's going on in this person's head.

Strategically placed firearms throughout your house is not a stupid idea in time of home invasion, etc. Now a single wide trailer is a different beast.....

For the most part, West Point is pretty quite...except for the occasional fire arm discharge. I think people up here just want to be left alone.

It’s becoming the real pandemic. Democrats have always been life long criminals, back in time and present day. Most entitled and hypocritical following ever. Just kick and release and turn a back on everyone. It is all everyone’s and everything else’s fault not mine. What is Joey doing today… is he up in Delaware holding a bridge up with his transparency. Stupid SOB. Kamala still down in South America giving out free blow….? Figuring out she’s got blood relatives. The entire 46 administration is the biggest embarrassing failure in history.

Your inability to write is embarrassing. You should consider educating yourself, then you'd possibly be taken seriously. Until then, you're just a stupid ass hillbilly. A sad one at that. Hopefully, you haven't passed this unfortunate retardation upon innocent children.

Obviously a convict with weapons should be hung, but 2000 rounds isn't much.

I have 10,000 rounds myself.....not on probation ....simply retired, older & more tired than when I was younger. I would not suggest any *bleep* trying to break into my house.
