Bear Valley, CA....…The Forest Service today announced that a public meeting to present proposed improvement projects at Bear Valley Mountain Resort will take place Saturday, August 2, at 10:00 a.m. The meeting location is the Bear Valley Lodge in the Town of Bear Valley. The Stanislaus National Forest, in cooperation with Bear Valley Mountain Resort, will discuss a proposal to install a new lift between the ski area and the Town of Bear Valley, improve service facilities, expand parking, modify terrain on several ski trails to improve beginner skier capacity, and open approximately 114 acres of new skiing opportunities in the ‘East Bowl’ area. ....
.
“The proposed improvements were identified in the Master Development Plan years ago. It is exciting to move forward in the expansion and modernization of the ski area” said Bill Lorenz, Calaveras district ranger.
The objective of the Proposed Action is to design and implement projects that will reduce crowding and congestion, particularly on beginner and intermediate runs, by increasing available terrain and lift capacity. Enlargement of existing parking lots will accommodate the anticipated increase in customers created by new developments within the Town of Bear Valley and at the ski area.
Construction of the lift from town to the ski area will provide economic benefits to the Town of Bear Valley and Bear Valley Mountain Resort, Construction of a new day lodge at the top of the ski area and improved access to services and facilities in the Town of Bear Valley are being proposed.
