Talking Parks & Rec with Mary Boblet~Video Chat Enclosed
Murphys, CA...We had the pleasure to spend a few minutes yesterday with District 3 Parks & Rec Commissioner, Mary Boblet in the lovely Murphys Park. Mary brought us up to speed on not only what Parks & Rec is up to these days and also gave us a preview of what is on tap for the Murphys Homecoming this weekend. From Duck Races to Lord of the Rings....
The younger members of the families attending Murphys Homecoming on Saturday, July 19 will enjoy many activities designed specifically for them, thanks to the efforts of Mary Boblet, District III Parks and Recreation Commissioner. The annual celebration, put on by the Murphys Community Club, begins at 11:30 a.m. in the Community Park. One of the youth oriented attractions will be an informal chess tournament organized with ....
the help of the chess clubs at Bret Harte High School and Avery Middle School. There will also be teen bingo, and various board games such as Lord of the Rings Monopoly and Trivial Pursuit.
A Hula Hoop contest is also on the agenda.
Other Homecoming activities to be held in the park that day include an 11:30 a.m. concert by the Calaveras Community Band, a noontime Nostalgia Luncheon for longtime area residents who have reached the age of 70, and the Murphys Volunteer Library’s duck races.
Hamburgers, hot dogs, wine, beer, and other beverages will be for sale with the proceeds going to maintain the park. There is no admission charge. For further information call 728-9012
