WASHINGTON -- The number of Americans applying for unemployment benefits fell last week to a new low point since the pandemic erupted, evidence that layoffs are declining as companies hold onto workers.
Unemployment claims dropped 6,000 to 290,000 last week, the third straight drop, the Labor Department said Thursday. That’s the fewest people to apply for benefits since March 14, 2020, when the pandemic intensified. Applications for jobless aid, which generally track the pace of layoffs, have fallen steadily from about 900,000 in January.
Unemployment claims are increasingly returning to normal, but many other aspects of the job market haven't yet done so. Hiring has slowed in the past two months, even as companies and other employers have posted a near-record number of open jobs. Officials such as Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell had hoped more people would find work in September as schools reopened, easing child care constraints, and enhanced unemployment aid ended nationwide.

Yesterday, the US Senate Republicans blocked a simple straight forward voting rights bill.
This clearly labels the Republicans as anti Democracy.
The Republicans know in many states such as Texas, the White minority is using gerrymandering to draw districts to ensure the White minority stays in power.
18 GOP states have passed 30 laws restricting voting by various means, this is because the Republicans know if all legal voters can vote, their party is d-o-n-e.
Republican policies are unpopular; the tax cuts for the rich, the denial of Medicare drug pricing , a $15 living wage, and many other policies that 75% of all voters approve, yet the Republican Congress (Senate) blocks.
The loss of all legal voters ability to vote is the end of our Democracy, nothing less.
This is an issue of racism, pure and simple.

The Roberts Citizens United decision ended limited political campaign financing limits.
The laws to limit or before outlaw high donations to politicians are gone.
As a result, now our congress represents their donors, not the people.
Our representative Democracy is gone for all intents and purposes.
Both political parties are prime examples how political donations and lobbyists steer how our once representative Democracy did work for the majority, now, no.
The inability to have drug , tax, green energy reforms shows this ownership of what was once our representative houses of the people.
Until the legal bribery of the Roberts decision is rescinded, we have lost our representative Democracy.
This is another example of the corruption of the Conservative majority of the SCOTUS.
The Court decisions clearly announce an extreme pro corporate, pro extreme Christian agenda , anti consumer, anti voting for all legal voter agenda which will only make the problems of wealth inequality worse.
The SCOTUS is a destructive force in America for now.
