Angels Camp Police Department Mourns the Passing of Retired K9 Thor
Angels Camp, CA...Last night we laid to rest one of our own. With his handler by his side, retired K9 Thor was laid to rest after losing his battle with a sudden illness. K9 Thor began his law enforcement career with the Stockton Police Department. He joined the Angels Camp Police Department in 2016 and proudly served the citizens of Angels Camp until his retirement in 2020.
One of K9 Thor’s most memorable assignments was working alongside his handler, Officer McDearmid, at our schools. Students and school staff shared many stories over the years of K9 Thor’s friendly demeanor and how much they enjoyed having him on campus.
K9 Thor lived out his retirement years with Officer McDearmid and her family. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Condolences. I can remember when Officer Mcdermead found my roommate's 2 dogs at Utica Park. I was the only one home one morning and I let the dogs out front. One of my roommate's left the driveway gate opened and the two dogs got wanderlust. Then I panicked and called them all over the neighborhood. I then called ACPD and then the dispatcher told me that there were two dogs at Utica Park being watched by Jodie. I then told the dispatcher that I'm on foot and will take me a while to get there. Then as I arrived at the park I could see the silhouette of the little dog's pointy ears in the back seat of the police car. There were a couple of out-of-town visitors at the park who noticed that Tuffy and Norman were lost and disoriented. Jodie mentioned that it was a happy ending and I thanked her. The dogs were all excited when they saw me. So I leashed Tuffy and then carried Norman back home. Tuffy was like a big brother to Norman-little terrier and they must have gone across the crosswalk on busy Main Street. I asked them if they got booked and printed lol! Thank you Jodie, Steven R Smith
