“Outrageous & Provocative” Theme Show Extreme at Gallery Calaveras
“Outrageous & Provocative” is the latest theme show opening at Gallery Calaveras on Saturday, July 12. Venture out for an exciting journey through the most flamboyant aspects of our inspired art community. It is sure to be a fresh experience. From wild abstracts to the surreal and breathtaking designs found in nature, this show is sure to amuse, inspire and foster conversation and laughter. Featuring the work of 20 artists, “Outrageous & Provocative” will run for 6 weeks awaiting your viewing pleasure.....
An Opening Reception will be held on Saturday, July 12 at Gallery Calaveras, 22 Main Street, San Andreas, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Refreshments will be served and many of the artists will be attending. The exhibit will remain until August 30.
Continue your walk on the wild side at the July 12 reception and witness the unveiling of our “da Vinci Frog” created by Mokelumne Hill artist extraordinaire, Kevin Brady. A native of San Francisco, Brady has worked as a comic strip cartoonist and editorial cartoonist, book illustrator, caricaturist, sign painter, muralist, wine/beer label designer and a logo, T-shirt and poster designer. He has lived in Calaveras County for 16 years. This amazing cerebral offering that parallels the works of the master Leonardo da Vinci in the frog realm, will be auctioned off at the “Frog Gala” on October 25 in Mark Twain Hall at the Calaveras Fairgrounds. Proceeds from the “da Vinci Frog” will go to the Calaveras Country Arts Council. The Painted Frogs of Calaveras is a public art and fundraising project of the Calaveras Arts Council and the Calaveras Chamber of Commerce.
