High COVID-19 Transmission in Amador County

Amador County, CA – Amador County Public Health reports 80 more cases of COVID-19 since last Tuesday’s update, bringing the total laboratory confirmed case count to 2,038. The current cases include 38 males and 42 females, 11 children under the age of 18 years, 41 aged 18-49, 14 aged 50-64, 14 age 65 and above; 22 residing in Ione, 20 in Jackson, 5 living in Plymouth/surrounding areas, 10 in Pine Grove, 7 residing in Pioneer, 14 in Sutter Creek/Amador City, and 2 in residing in Volcano. 804 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in 2021 to date. Of the new cases this week, 18 were vaccinated.

Five Amador residents are currently hospitalized locally with COVID-19, in addition to 3 residents of other counties. The age range of residents requiring hospitalization is significantly lower than previous weeks. Currently the youngest hospitalized individual is in their 30s. Over the last several weeks, over half of the
cases in Amador have been in persons under the age of 50.

The transmission rate of COVID-19 in Amador is high as documented on the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) data tracking map. Because of the rise in cases and the more contagious Delta variant circulating, to keep your family and those who are most vulnerable safe, it is recommended that everyone wear a mask indoors in public places in alignment with CDC and California Department of Public Health (CDPH) recommendations.

Becoming fully vaccinated against COVID-19 is the best protection for preventing serious illness and hospitalization. Tomorrow, Wednesday, August 4, 2021, a vaccine pop-up clinic will be offered at First 5 Amador in Jackson from 9 am to 12 pm. On Friday, August 6, 2021, another vaccine outreach clinic will be held from 9 am to 12 pm at Pokerville Market in Plymouth. Next week’s pop-up clinic will be located at The Oaks in Ione on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 from 10 am to 12 pm. Both the Pfizer vaccine and the Johnson and Johnson (single-dose) vaccine will be offered at each pop-up site, no appointment is necessary.

Immunization clinics are also offered twice a month at Health and Human Services on the first and third Tuesdays of the month by appointment. Homebound individuals may schedule a home visit to receive their COVID-19 vaccine. Appointments may be scheduled by calling (209) 223-6407. Additional vaccination
opportunities are available at local pharmacies. Visit the Vaccines.gov website for more information.

Individuals who have received only the first dose of the two-dose vaccine series do not yet have maximum protection and are urged to schedule their second-dose. Those who are beyond the recommended date for their second dose do not need to re-start the vaccine series.

Over 35,300 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to Amador residents to date. 64.2% of eligible Amador County residents, age 12 and over, have had at least one dose of vaccine and 15,970 are fully vaccinated.

Everyone exhibiting symptoms, even fully vaccinated individuals, should isolate and be tested. No-cost COVID-19 testing is available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays from 7 am to 3 pm. Register for testing at the lhi.care website or by calling 1-888-634-1123. Those who are pre-registered are prioritized.

STOP BULLYING THE UNVACCINATED! There are reasons that 30% of Americans are not vaccinated. One reason is that Sloppy Joe and his Hoe indicated last year that they did not trust the vaccines that President Trump had manufactured at warp speed and now they have to deal with that damage control. Some people can't take vaccines due to allergic reactions. Mind your own business Demorats and get a life!

(Israel, Iceland, Sweden) which have high percentages of vaccinated, are seeing 70-80% of new cases are vaccinated.
patents. This is what CDC put out last week, recommending wearing masks for all especially the vaccinated.

    Blame the Democrats.
    Trump won the election.
Traitors breaking into the Capitol were tourists just having a good time.
Immigrants are the ones spreading the Delta covid.
The 30% use excuses for not getting vaccinated. That's not bullying. That's pathetic.

Sorry but trashy locals are spreading it. See them all in the photos of local fairs? See them in the bars? Do you see any masks and seriously, do you even care?

Noticing the majority of others here do not agree with your lifestyle or thinking? Don't like it here? Go back to your city where others like yourself will welcome you and be happy you are there.

        Love living here.
        Been here 45 years.
I just don't agree with those that believe a vaccine and a mask are worse than the alternative.
I fought to protect your freedoms and mine. I just believe that an unmasked and unvaccinated person puts me more at risk of covid when I go to the market.
I don't eat or drink at any indoor establishment.
Don't tell me to move from my home AND yell at me to stop bullying the unmasked unvaccinated.

True veterans are still fighting for peace and freedom. Many of those freedom fighters/patriots suffered greatly because our government carelessly injured killed them.... Vietnam. Being left in the jungle with no air cover while all your men around you were being slaughtered. Those men are still suffering today while you worry what others are doing at the grocery store.

You could order your groceries and go pick them up. You could also order the meals or prep kits (simple or gourmet) delivered right to your door. There are options if others in public are not doing what YOU want them to do.

You add nothing to our county by living here and complaining that others are not falling into lock step with you.

Yes, great idea to go back to the Bay Area where car jackings, mugging, looting, shop lifting are a way of life. The street gangs are looking for fresh “White Liberal” ass to chew on!

The Trumpers and the unvaccinated are what is holding back America. Civil liberties are important. But when those liberties are at a cost to everyone in the pool, then it’s a problem.

How would those same unvaccinated Trumpers feel if we we’re getting are ass kicked in a war and a large percentage of liberals refused to join the fight?

What a bunch of ignorant Hillbillies! You have more of a chance dying in a car wreck then dying from Covid especially the way people drive around here. If you are able to get vaccinated then do it if not then wear a mask and stay away from large crowds otherwise just STFU and get a life!

Correct, if we went to war a large percentage of liberals would run to Canada! Patriots would step forward.
