"The Phoenix" Hopes to Use the Character's Super Powers to Take Hollywood by Storm!
Arnold, CA...Last week Calaveras County played host to a group of up and coming young filmmakers shooting "The Phoenix". They were led by Writer & Director Regina Pigsley. This young director grew up in the Bay Area, Studied Film at UC Berkeley and abroad in Denmark. She recently made the move to Hollywood and the next item on her todo list is conquering the movie industry. We hope the young Writer/Director and the rest of her crews careers soar like the character in "The Phoenix". We also thank them for choosing our area as a film location. Our conversation is below...
About the Story of The Phoenix.
"The story
Inside a working class home in 90’s America, eight year old Charlie wants nothing more than to be a superhero. Her overworked parents are drifting apart, and their arguments just keep getting worse. Charlie’s only escape is her dream of being super. Eventually, the toxicity around the house boils over, and Charlie watches as her mother throws a frying pan at her father. BAM! Charlie freezes time, her arms outstretched in a gesture of protest. She has finally unlocked her super power! Instinctively, Charlie discovers that she can not only stop time, but turn it back. Immediately, Charlie turns back time just before her parents' most recent fight and tries to avert it through her innocent, eight year old diplomacy.
What unfolds is Charlie’s growth to realizing that her powers may not be the solution to solving the problems of her broken home, but rather the answer to finding that her strength to rise above hardship, lies within herself."
The Writer/Director Statement on the Project.
"My greatest role models or friends I had in my childhood were those in books, films, or tv shows, and all I ever wanted was superpowers so I could make sure that nobody else would ever feel as terrible and lonely as I did. I did everything in my power to ensure a better future for myself - I tried to excel in everything I did.
Not only does this story shed light on what broken households look like, it is also meant to empower children, especially young girls, to stay strong and know that their situation is not their fault.
I want this film to be an inspiration to young women to find and embrace their own individual superpowers, and use them to fight their way to a better life.
Regina Pigsley
Directer & Writer, "The Phoenix"
They hope to have shooting and editing in time for Film Festivals in 2022!

This is a beautiful, poignant story with a message of hope. What the world needs most right about now. I wish this promising young writer/director much success.
If nothing significant is accomplished, it will only be because the GOP Trumpers have made it their mission to block all legislation. And yet somehow, stopping government from doing its job, elected officials from doing their work for the people, is right by people like you. The GOP has you right where they want - ignorant, uneducated and misinformed - while they continue to work toward making the rich richer.
What's the matter Democraps, it sounds like you don't like it now that the shoe is on the other foot. Since President Trump was in office, you Democraps tried to defeat every bill that he proposed. Now it is the GOP'S turn and I hope every bill that Sloppy Joe tries to pass is defeated. You made your bed now lay in it!

Darn it, we have such terrible cell phone coverage here we can't watch an eight min video.
So a dysfunctional family, mom threw the frying pan at the father? So since the father was living there I'm taking it the father is anything but black? Not being racist, the facts are only 38.7 percent of black kids have a father living at home with them as a family, so theorher throwing a frying pan at the father caught me off guard. Then I thought about all the white trailer trash that live here now, and the young Lady graduating from Berkeley, land of the liberal socialist party and thought about what a violent group they truly are. Did you know that a minim of 73 Percent of Felons would vote democrat if they could vote?
I think I'll pass on watching dem/socialist mother's and dads fighting, doing drugs, shooting at each other, beating up Jewish people, Asian people their kids and them no doubt telling kids they should be ashamed of themselves for being white.13 percent of the population commits 52% of the crime. Unless you live in say St Louis, then the staggering numbers are "Blacks make up 13 percent of the population of St. Louis, Missouri, but are responsible for 74 percent of all the crime, including 92 percent of all murders, 82 percent of all rapes, 92 percent of all robberies, 87 percent of all assaults, 73 percent of all larceny-thefts, 77 percent of all auto thefts, and 77 percent of all arson attacks, new figures from that city’s police department have shown" and under Biden he's giving two thumbs up to the teachers, teaching kids saying how bad being white is, and they should be ashamed of themselves? No thx, go ahead folks and watch it, maybe down in Oakland would be a good place for you dem/ socialist to watch and help support their community?
We all are wondering why they are not held accountable for what they have done to the cities they flee. They will not be safer here because they are now bringing what they created there, here to again prey upon them.
