Governor Newsom Declares State of Emergency in Napa, Sonoma and Shasta Counties, Requests Presidential Major Disaster Declaration

Sacramento, CA...Governor Gavin Newsom issued an emergency proclamation for the counties of Napa, Sonoma and Shasta due to the Glass and Zogg fires, which have burned tens of thousands of acres, destroyed homes and critical infrastructure and caused the evacuation of tens of thousands of residents. The Governor today also sent a letter to the President requesting a Presidential Major Disaster Declaration to assist state and local wildfire response and recovery efforts in the counties of Fresno, Los Angeles, Madera, Mendocino, San Bernardino, San Diego and Siskiyou.

California previously secured a Presidential Major Disaster Declaration to bolster the state’s emergency response to the Northern California wildfires as well as Fire Management Assistance Grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to support the state’s ongoing response to fires burning across the state. Governor Newsom has declared a statewide emergency due to the widespread fires and extreme weather conditions, activated the State Operations Center to its highest level and signed an executive order to streamline recovery efforts in communities impacted by the devastating fires.

The text of the Governor’s request today for a Presidential Major Disaster Declaration can be found here and a copy can be found here. The text of today’s proclamation can be found here and a copy can be found here.

This state has collected so much of our money, they don’t even know what account it’s in. State parks is first example, fact check has been proved!! Newsom is a total idiot. Worse yet “we the people” let this pass by and continue to happen.

Newsom defers to the Fed bail-outs by continually asking TRUMP for financial assistance to fix all California's completely out-of-hand problems while he spends all our tax dollars on his obnoxious pet projects! This guy is an idiot! he needs to be run out of office NOW! Why are we allowing a communist to run and ruin our beautiful state?

Duh, It is our California tax money going to the Federal gov. and to the so-called red states. Maybe we should not provide the Federal gov. calif. tax money and just pay our costs with our money---think about that

What an ignorant thing to say. Our big money tax payers/business have and are fleeing the state. We already are not doing the massive serious work to reduce the fires. Nor is or infrastructure being replaced/maintained other than band-aids using inferior products. We have many Dams and Bridges failing that can and will cost many lives.

The state only controls 3% of the forestland in California. It’s almost entirely federal forestland.

How many idiots ripping on Newsom for trying to get federal aid realize that the Federal government owns 48% of the land in the state? Not many I guess.

I can remember when I first saw the movie Beetlejuice. Great movie and very entertaining and humorous! That's nice that Frogtown can host that. Thank you, SRS

If this is true. CA is responsible the other half and what is he doing to reduce fire.
Forcing you to buy electric cars will not solve the situation.
