Tuolumne Sheriff's Department Takes Over Homicide Investigation in Death of Eric Aguiar
Sonora, CA...On September 16th, just before midnight, we received multiple reports of gunfire in the area of Sonora High School. Within fifteen minutes of the initial reports, an additional report of a gunshot victim at the local hospital was received. Sonora Police Department identified the victim as 17-year-old Eric Aguiar of Jamestown. Aguiar succumbed to his injuries and Sonora Police Department determined his death to be a homicide, initiating an investigation.
On September 21st, Sonora Police Department requested the Sheriff’s Office assumed the lead on the investigation of Aguiar’s death.
We have all available resources pursuing all leads. At this time, no further information will be released to ensure the integrity of the investigation. Rest assured, our office will spare no resource to solve this case.
