Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow...What?!....Ebbetts Pass Closed until Sunday Due to Unfortunate Weather (Update) Ebbetts Has Now Reopened on May 26th

Bear Valley, CA...We just spoke with CHP dispatch in Stockton (San Andreas office is closed on Weekends) and they informed us that Ebbetts Pass is currently closed due to snow. They said that if you are camping or staying past the Ebbetts Pass closure point to make sure you have your camping reservation proof and any documentation that may prove you need to be past the closure point. It is still up to the authorities on scene but since this is Memorial Weekend and the campgrounds and cabins are teeming with people they can't keep it closed any longer than is absolutely necessary and a hard closure is probably unworkable as there are probably hundreds if not thousands of people already in the affected area. Should make for some interesting camping stories. The following from the Caltans road report a few minutes ago. When we checked at just after 7am Hwy 4 was still showing as open. SR 4 IS CLOSED FROM 0.5 MI EAST OF THE JCT OF SR 207 /MT REBA TURNOFF/ TO 7.2 MI WEST OF THE JCT OF SR 89 /EBBETTS PASS/ (ALPINE CO) - DUE TO SNOW - MOTORISTS ARE ADVISED TO USE AN ALTERNATE ROUTE...

CHAINS OR SNOW TIRES ARE REQUIRED FROM 3.5 MI EAST OF COTTAGE SPRINGS
(CALAVERAS CO) TO 2 MI WEST OF THE MT REBA TURNOFF (ALPINE CO)

1-WAY CONTROLLED TRAFFIC AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS FROM 5.3 MI WEST TO 1.3 MI
WEST OF MURPHYS (CALAVERAS CO) FROM 0700 HRS TO 1600 HRS TUESDAY THRU FRIDAY
THRU 5/30/08 - DUE TO CONSTRUCTION - MOTORISTS ARE SUBJECT TO 20 MINUTE DELAYS

1-WAY CONTROLLED TRAFFIC AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS FROM AVERY TO 1.4 MI EAST
OF AVERY (CALAVERAS CO) FROM 0900 HRS TO 1630 HRS TUESDAY THRU THURSDAY
THRU 5/29/08 - DUE TO MAINTENANCE

12:54PM ^SR 4 WILL BE CLOSED TO 0525/TO BE REEVALUATED AT THAT TIME
