Six New Cases of COVID-19 Reported in Calaveras County

San Andreas, CA...On Friday, July 10, 2020 Calaveras Public Health reported six new cases of COVID-19 in Calaveras County. The additional cases include a male and female between 0 to 17 years of age, two females and one male between 18 to 49 years of age, and a female between 50 to 64 years of age.

“We are seeing increasing cases of COVID-19 in younger adults. While those over 65 years old are at higher risk of hospitalization or death, younger folks are also developing more serious disease as well. Everyone in our community is either at risk or can spread the virus to someone who is, so let’s do everything we can to prevent a surge of COVID-19 and protect our community,” said Dr. Dean Kelaita, Calaveras County Health Officer. “People are urged to stay home as much as possible and avoid crowded places, confined spaces, and close contact with people not from your household. Local business must continue to follow directives to keep patrons safe and healthy, as well as require employees and customers wear face coverings.”

To date, Calaveras Public Health has reported sixty-seven confirmed cases of COVID-19. Of those cases, twenty-one cases have since recovered and forty-six cases remain active. There have been no reported deaths related to COVID-19 in Calaveras County at this time.

The best ways to avoid exposure to the virus are to:
 Stay at least 6 feet away from people outside of your household
 Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
 Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands
 Wear a face covering over your nose and mouth when around others

Calaveras Public Health staff continues to investigate new cases to determine any possible persons who may have had close personal contact with the positive individuals. Close contacts may be contacted by the health department, assessed and monitored for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 illness.

The OptumServe COVID-19 testing site located at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds is open Tuesday-Saturday from 7:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. Testing is available to those age 12 and older. Walk-ins are not accepted at this time. People are highly encouraged to register online by going to www.lhi.care/covidtesting. People without Internet access should call (888) 634-1123.

Symptoms can appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. People with these symptoms may have COVID-19:

Death. We need death. It will make Trump and his Trumpsters so happy. No masks required.

Notice that it is the right wing part of the county -- Valley Springs, Jenny Lind, and Copperopolis -- that have the overwhelming preponderance of cases. They are the ones who kept protesting for opening the stores, against masks, and social distancing. So to paraphrase that great intellectual of the Repubicans, Sarah Palin, how's that hopey dopey thing doing for you?

I know a good mortuary if you need one.

        No I don't have proof.

But there is proof over 135,000 Americans have died and over 3,000,000 have been infected with the coronavirus.

There's proof that yesterday over 70,000 new cases were confirmed here in the USA while less than 400 new cases were found in all of Canada.

There's proof that a real leader, a young woman named Jacinda Ardern, has for the most part eliminated coronavirus in all of New Zealand.

There's proof that Trump mopes and badgers his own staff on nonexistent policy while coronavirus drains the life blood of our economy and our lives themselves.

Anyone could literally go on and on about Trump's failures to lead this country to a tolerable solution. However, as long as so many refuse to accept their social responsibility to our mutual welfare our nation will remain dysfunctional and at risk of economic disaster few can imagine.

        Good luck with that.....

Proof: trump said there are fifteen cases, and in a few days it will be gone, trump said that hydroxychloroquine (?) is an effective preventative,. He said the bug would be gone come summer, and just a whole bunch of failures to follow the advice of experts in the fields of medicine and pandemics. It failed in his most important duty......to protect the people of this country.

Look at the proportion of voter registration, the candidates they put forth (remember Darren Spellman or Dennis Mills or Clyde Clapp...), or their silly protests led by a right-wing religious nut masquerading as a lawyer? Patterns, my son, patterns. And they all add up to a mental illness referred to as Trumpidiocy.

You think you are so smart, and most of the time call others him. You also accuse and attack calling some posters women's names that spoke out about drug issues in the county. You should try to get mentally healthy and move on. Seems your hatred of several people who spoke out about Marijuana in the county consumes all your days, it is very sick and sad at the same time.

Have you been paying attention to all of the traffic on the roads? FYI it's mainly out of towner's from the city coming up here and bringing the disease with them and not practicing precautions. the only reason for them to be here right now would be if their work route requires it. And now a huge influx of them having been moving up here and buying property when they should have stayed put. Also thanks to idiots who thought it would be a good idea to defund the police in major cities you can bet even more will move up here.

One non sequitur followed by another.

BTW all the cases that have been reported with point of origin for infection in Calaveras County have been local or were local residents who brought it from a visit to places like Stockton.

As for Flatlanders coming here — all I can say is that they are raising the median IQ and the gene pool (by quite a lot)

Yes, there has been many instances of it coming from locals who visited outside of the area. Just drive through the touristy parts of the county and you'll see that most of the tourists, who are of many different backgrounds, are also not practicing proper protocols. The whole IQ and gene pool thing is quite disturbing Mr. Hitler, theirs plenty of intelligent and non inbred people here, in fact I don't think I've ever met or seen that many inbred people here. That's just a stereotype because you don't like "rednecks" and think your above them, you see them as white trash n words.

40,000 people in this county. If all were tested you could expect 2% would have it. So there could easily be 800 people infected and contagious in Calaveras.

Hey, Vally Springs - still going with that you're taking away my personal liberties and I'm gonna sue narrative? What - maybe 55 of our total county cases are from you? This isn't about tourists and outside visitors - this is a community spread because you won't wear masks and think it's just fine to have the neighbors and extended family over for a cookout and cocktails.

Huh? If you can't make an appointment on the internet call your doctor to do it. If not go to the ER if you have symptoms. You will get tested or should get tested in the ER no matter what. I still can't believe you can't get set up over the internet. They ask some person info like your health care or group insurance number. You do have some kind of insurance or health care provider at your age, don't you? Pretty basic and straight forward.

How rude. I think they were genuinely asking for assistance in how to get ahold of someone for testing, and you belittled and criticized instead of answering.
Maybe they don’t have anyone to ask? Maybe they live alone?
It’s depressing to see how this situation is bringing out the worst in people. Imagine it’s your grandpa asking. Be kind.

Teerump is stuck now. He has togo to Floreyeda for his convention, to late to change. Wait till you see the attendees to that fiasco. Make Tulsa look like a Mensa meeting. All the inbreds on the eastern seabord will be there. Probably 7% masks and no distancing. It'll be great for his campain.

There is still a business in AC that has stayed open when they should be quarantined. They closed for 5 days or so over the holiday. Why is this allowed by the health dept? This business has not made any attempt to protect their customers. I see a large outbreak on the horizon.

Republicans- I, me, me, me . Freedom- no mask .

Democrats- We the people, we, we, we. We wear masks to protect me and you.

In countries with liberal democracies Covid is under control. They are near back to normal. Canada for example. Canada has denied US citizens entry , Mexico also.

In countries with dictators, and autocracies, Covid is raging.

      Suck on that Dumpers.

Valley Springs

Forwarded from another source:

"The right wing anti-mask folks of the Valley Springs Bulletin Board are rallying the troops to contact the BOS and tell the Board not to accept Newsom’s state COVID-19 money. They say Calaveras County would be shut down again and fines would be established if caught without a mask if this money is accepted."

Considering all the cases they have there, they obviously don't have a better plan. What is wrong with them? Can't be bothered to wear a mask? Those of us with better sense need to make sure our Board of Supervisors ignores those idiots.

So there's supposed to be a musical gathering at Cameo Plaza in Arnold this evening and also mentioned about having enough room for social distancing. How far is that going to go? Possibly another spike in that area? No thank you -I'm SIP. That's why they closed down the Farmers Market in Angels for the month of July.

Yeah, but occasionally the Flatlanders come down the hill to hang with the other transplants in Murphy's or come down to raid our local stores of our toilet paper and beer.
