Quarter Fire Holding at 15 Acres in South Fork Stanislaus River Drainage

Cedar Ridge, CA...The Quarter Fire started yesterday at approximately 7:30 p.m. in the South Fork of the Stanislaus River approximately three miles upstream of the Lost Dutchman Mining Association property in the Grant Ridge (Forest Service Road 3N11) area. The fire is only burning on the north side of the river and is holding at 15 acres. The US Forest Service is working with Cal Fire resources to suppress the fire which is located in a very isolated area with difficult access for fire equipment and crews. Personnel were finally able to access the fire line around 3:00 p.m. today. Crews have been working on contingency lines as well as completing structure protection around several homes. Air support, both fixed wing and helicopter, were used yesterday evening to keep the fire from spreading quickly, and resumed today continuing to hold the fire in check.

The fire has been managed as a full suppression incident from the start.

Structure protection is in place for residences in the area and an Adversary Evacuation Order was issued for homes off Forest Road 3N11 and the north side of Cedar Ridge.

Visitors are asked to stay out of this area and all access roads to the fire to avoid interfering with fire crews and equipment supporting suppression efforts.

A Type 1 Fire Incident Management Team has been ordered for the fire and is expected to arrive at noon tomorrow. Additional suppression resources have also been ordered.

Weather conditions: Very dry fuel conditions will persist throughout the area and temperatures near 100 degrees are expected to continue for the next several days.
