COVID-19 Numbers for State of California 15,865 Cases, 374 Deaths, 157,800 Tests

Sacramento, CA...The California Department of Public Health today announced the most recent statistics on COVID-19. California now has 15,865 confirmed cases and 374 deaths. As of April 6, local health departments have reported 269 confirmed positive cases in health care workers. For more information on COVID-19 and California's response visit the California Department of Public Health website.

Testing in California
As of April 6, approximately 157,800 tests had been conducted in California. At least 143,172 results have been received and another 14,600 are pending. These numbers include data California has received from commercial, private and academic labs, including Quest, LabCorp, Kaiser, University of California and Stanford, and the 22 state and county health labs currently testing.

How People Can Protect Themselves
Every person has a role to play. Protecting yourself and your family comes down to common sense:
  • Staying home except for essential needs/activities.
  • Practicing social distancing.
  • Washing hands with soap and water for a minimum of 20 seconds.
  • Avoiding touching eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Covering a cough or sneeze with your sleeve, or disposable tissue. Wash your hands afterward.
  • Avoiding close contact with people who are sick.
  • Staying away from work, school or other people if you become sick with respiratory symptoms like fever and cough.
  • Following guidance from public health officials.
What to Do if You Think You're Sick
Call ahead: If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough or shortness of breath) and may have had contact with a person with COVID-19, or recently traveled to countries with apparent community spread, call your health care provider before seeking medical care so that appropriate precautions can be taken.

For more information about what Californians can do to prevent the spread of COVID-19, visit Coronavirus (COVID-19) in California.

California continues to issue guidance on preparing and protecting California from COVID-19. Consolidated guidance is available on the California Department of Public Health's Guidance web page.

The deaths are not accurate

There are far more deaths than this. They just were not tested.

I believe 344 is the proper number. It was originally stated 343 and it was just one number off. There were 319 two days ago so it seems like the daily death rate went down per day at an average of only 12 per day so lets look at the bright side!

Oh yeah, just hide your head in the sand and it will all just go away. Wake up, take a look at all the people dying in local and surrounding county obituaries. They are not being tested in death and are not counted but most likely had it.

The hysterical and panic is what's overblown. people need to calm down. The hoarding. This didnt happen during the H1N1 flu. Alot more deaths with that flu

Actually, those numbers are overstated. They are classifying all pneumonia, heart disease and respiratory deaths as COVID. This whole thing is a sham.

        OK, fine.

You go back to work and your kids go back to school.

        I'm good with that.

Doesn’t matter if a person is conservative, liberal. Doesn’t matter who you are, if you really care about this nation, we all need to vote to get trump gone.
