Supervisor Merita Callaway on Vacation Rentals in Ebbetts Pass Area

Murphys, CA...With this dramatic change in our lives, I want to address a concern that many of you have expressed, short-term rentals. Most of the property managers in Ebbetts Pass, who manage short-term rentals, have closed their reservations. This equates to more than 300 rental units that have been put on hold. For this, I truly thank them.

Short-term rentals bring normally welcomed visitors into our midst but with the Governor’s order to stay at home during this period, we are all making efforts to reduce travel within our area for all but essential needs.

To those individual property owners who are still renting their homes or cabins, I ask you to join our community effort and suspend short-term rentals at this time.

It will take us as a community, to come through this, each doing our part. I wish all of you well, and a safe journey as we move forward day by day.

Thank you Merita and the rest of the Board of Supervisors. I’ll get back to complaining about politicians once we’re all through this. Until then, thanks.

That's fine but what about these flatlanders that have second homes and leave their permanent homes to stay in Arnold. They are supposed to stay in place in their area and not travel here with the possibility of infecting the locals with their nasty germs.

      https://www.mymotherlode.com/news/local/1032642/coronavirus-case-in-tuolumne-county.html

, “Preliminary investigations indicate that the patient’s exposure to COVID-19 occurred in Mono County then the person traveled to Tuolumne County, then later sought medical care. This case is associated with community transmission in Mono County and was not acquired through local community spread in Tuolumne.”

That is why flatlanders should stay. . . . in the flat land!

Duhhhh....Mono County is not exactly the flatland. In fact, it's more rugged and remote than our own. Take your nose out of Fox News' crack and go over the hill sometime.

Duhhh! Does it matter which county you come from just keep your fat ass in your permanent home. Our hospitals barely have enough beds and supplies to care for our own residents.

Duhhhh.....Our hospitals DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH BEDS OR SUPPLIES if this starts rolling up here. We will be totally screwed.

It is frightening to see the number of people who came into Arnold recently. Groups are walking by my house, and I never laid an eye on them before! In BTM I only met a couple of people I know, and the post office confirmed that their main task is handing out "general delivery" packages. When I checked the number of cases in Santa Clara County, just to name one, it is incredible. Why can't these people stay at home and order their groceries to be delivered to their homes? Carrying possible infections to us will not make the US "great again" - only some of us late...

Welcomed Visitors? No they are NOT

Normally welcomed visitors? Oh yeah that's right, they're about as welcomed as the wuhanvirus.
Did you see Tuolumne County had their first Wuhanvirus case? A tourist who did NOT obviously do what was recommended and stay home.
So welcomed tourist, not in my book. We no longer go downtown in our community due to all the tourist. I know those who have business blah blah blah also no longer cater to the people who live here either.
Our peaceful community is no longer, peaceful.
Oh well, we had a good run, times have changed.

We flatlanders are the only ones keeping this backward economy up here going.

You flatlanders are cleaning out our grocery stores of essential products and staying in your second homes instead of staying in place in your primary home.

Typical selfish, flatlander response. You will never be a part of this community with that attitude. . . .

They fled mono because it’s mostly
L.A. people in that county bring up the virus to their second. Believe me locals there don’t like flatlander either. Oh, and yes we like it just the way it is.

Huge thank you to Merita!! Now Tuolumne county has its first case and no telling where all she was before symptoms. Please, everyone who has a permanent home elsewhere, go back home until this is over.

The Calaveras Co Health Dept has issued a stop renting order for all short term rental places, including motels, hotels and private short term rentals. It is posted on PineTree this morning.
