Avery Woman Lost Her Life Today in Collision on Hwy 12

Burson, CA...An Avery woman was driving a 2010 Acura sedan, within a private driveway, east of Haskell Street, and preparing to to turn left onto eastbound SR-12. A Valley Springs man was driving a 2008 Ford F150, westbound on SR-12, at approximately 50-55 MPH, and approaching the Avery woman's location. For reasons still under investigation, her vehicle unsafely entered SR-12 directly in the path of the approaching pickup. The front of the Ford collided with the drivers side of the Acura within the westbound lane of SR-12. The impact pushed both vehicles in a southwesterly direction and they left the roadway, coming to rest off the south roadway shoulder.

Despite life saving efforts on scene, the 38 year old Avery woman sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her minor passenger was transported to UC Davis Medical Center for minor injuries.

The driver of the pickup was not inured in this collision.

Alcohol and/or drugs are not believed to be a factor in this collision.

There are no further details available at this time and this collision is still under investigation.

Our prayers are with the family at this time. Please be careful out there as we have lost two lives on our local roads this week. Life can be over in an instant.

Very heart wrenching indeed. Overcoming this type of tragedy takes time for sure. For the rest of us, we only have three things to do, pay attention, pay attention and pay attention!!!!!!!

I didn't know her, but I looked her up on Facebook and we have mutual friends.

Beautiful young lady, wife, mother. Small kids. Very, very sad indeed.

My condolences.

We are a loving and generous community here in Calaveras County. We live in one of the most glorious and peaceful places on earth. We are so incredibly lucky, and we never forget it. We welcome visitors and new “transplants” alike with open arms, and we are thrilled to share the beauties of the foothills, valleys, and Sierra peaks that make up our piece of heaven on earth.

Driving ANYWHERE in this world can be a challenge, and sometimes downright dangerous. No human being can account for every action they make behind the wheel of a car-we ARE only human. Terrible things happen every day, and we grieve alongside our neighbors when someone is lost.

I am so sorry for your loss. Your whole family and extended friends must all be in shock, and filled with terrible sadness and grief. Please know that the citizens of our small county wish you well, no matter who you are or where you come from. May your irreplaceable loved one rest peacefully.

It is no longer peaceful, nor beautiful with all the traffic and influx of people who are here to fight with locals and force the change of their quiet way of life. The garbage covered roadways, speeders, city bumper drivers, dead animals, crime, drugs, mentally ill and homeless may be what you are use to, but it is not what adds to quality of life here. Take your Foothills Rising group with Garamendi, Callaway and Stopper and stuff it! You are just a wolf in sheep's clothing.

When I wrote that, I meant every word of it. I still do.

When it becomes generally known who the lady was that lost her life, then surely we’ll all be mindful of our own luck, and we’ll all be sure to keep a loving eye out for her children, family, and friends.

Rest peacefully and know that you are loved. We’ll be here on earth to help comfort your loved ones as they move through their awful grief.
