Updated Information on Minor Injury DUI Collision, September 28th on Hwy 4

Arnold, CA...A 42 year old Brentwood Man was driving west on SR-4, west of the entrance to Calaveras Big Trees State Park. Calaveras Deputy Williams was driving east on SR-4, west of the entrance to Calaveras Big Trees State Park. Williams was an on-duty sheriff's deputy, driving a fully marked Calaveras County Sheriff's patrol SUV. The road was icy, as it was raining/sleeting at the time of the collision. Ueda began to lose control of his vehicle as it proceeded west. Deputy Williams saw Ueda's vehicle coming into his lane (eastbound lane), and began to brake. Ueda's Ford collided with William's Ford head-on.

During the collision investigation, Ueda displayed objective signs of alcohol intoxication. After conducting a DUI investigation, He was placed under arrest for felony DUI (DUI causing injury). Ueda was booked at the Calaveras County jail. Deputy Williams was treated at Mark Twain Medical Center for minor injuries and released.
