Economic Development Continues to Be The Focus in Our County~By John Hamilton
Angels Camp, CA...Yesterday was the second in a series of Economic Committee Meetings leading up to a County Wide Economic Summit in late June. A dozen or so Government & Business leaders met again at the County Government Center for over 2 hours planning and prioritizing items to focus on. The Economic Development Dialog has been spearheaded by the Calalaveras....
County Chamber as of late and was shifted into high gear at the Joint Study session between the Angels Camp City Council and the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors.
At yesterday's meeting, Board of Supervisors Chair Steve Wilensky, Angels Camp City Administrator Tim Shearer, Diane Gray from the Chamber, Stephanie Moreno of the Community Development Agency, and others led the discussion. It seemed to be a very good meeting. There was consensus that in addition to long range planning there needs to be a focus on what can be done in the short term to help stimulate the local economy.
The committee members have been given their "Assignments" to work on specific areas and the process will continue at the group's next meeting.
There does seem to be a new wind blowing through the County right now. Business, Governmental & Private groups are focusing on common opportunities to steer the county's economy in the right direction.
