Calaveras County Sheriff's Volunteer Unit Has Exceeded 10,000 Hours of Service 3rd Year in a Row!
Calaveras County, CA....Don Crouch, Calaveras County Sheriff's Volunteer Operations Lieutenant, reported today that the Volunteer Unit exceeded 10,000 service hours for the third consecutive year. This outstanding performance is unprecedented in the 19 year history of the Sheriff's Volunteers. Several active volunteers retired from the unit in 2007 resulting in 1,000 hour drop in service work, from a high of 11,600 hours in 2006.....
 
Volunteers staff five Sheriff Department Substations throughout the County, patrol residential areas, businesses, schools and parks, provide crowd control at major county and community events. They also perform clerical and other duties for varous branches of the Sheriff's Department.
Lt. Crouch stressed that more volunteers are desperately needed in order for the unit to maintain it's high level of performance. Interested persons may pick up an application for Sheriff's Volunteer at any Sheriff"s Substation or at the Sheriif's Dept. main office in San Andreas. Background checks are made on all applicants. Training is provided and no law enforcement duties are involved. Senior citizens are welcome.
