Website and Memorial Information on Captain Brian Hughes

Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, CA...August 1, 2018 – On Sunday, July 29, 2018, Brian Hughes, 33, Captain of the Arrowhead Interagency Hotshots lost his life battling the Ferguson Fire on the Sierra National Forest. An official memorial website has been established in honor of Captain Hughes. There, the public can learn about him, upcoming memorial services, and where to send condolence letters or contributions. The site also includes a section for visitor-submitted memories and condolences. Website Information: https://www.sequoiaparksconservancy.org/captainbrianhughes

Memorial service information: Saturday, August 4, 2018, 11:00 am, Valdez Hall, Fresno Convention Center, 702 M St, Fresno, CA 93721. Attendees are asked to visit the website and RSVP. Additional information on Valdez Hall can be found at: https://fresnoconventioncenter.com/valdez-hall/ “While we grieve and remember our brother Brian, it’s good to know how many people out there are thinking about him and his family,” says Arrowhead Hotshots

Superintendent Joe Suarez. “There’s a huge amount of support pouring out of the community, and we feel that.” Hughes was originally from Hilo, Hawai`i, and was with the Arrowhead Interagency Hotshots for four years. The parks ask that public and media respect the other crew members’ privacy during this tragic time. An additional photo of Captain Hughes accompanies this news release.
