Tree Removal Work on Hwy 4 Above Arnold

Arnold, CA...The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform road construction including tree removal of dead and dying trees on eastbound and westbound State Route 4 (SR-4) from Upper Moran Road to the Calaveras/Alpine county line. Work will occur as follows: One-way traffic control will be in effect on eastbound and westbound SR-4 from Upper Moran Road to the Calaveras Big Trees State Park entrance Monday through Friday each week until fall 2018 from 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. for construction work. One-way traffic control will be in effect on eastbound and westbound SR-4 from east of Big Trees State Park to Meko Drive through Friday, July 13, 2018, from 6:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. for tree removal work. One-way traffic control will be in effect on eastbound and westbound SR-4 from Dorrington Station to Cabbage Patch Monday through Friday each week until fall 2018 from 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. for paving.

Motorists should expect 10 minute delays at each location. Alternate routes should be taken whenever possible.

This work is scheduled to begin as listed, but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/or materials and construction related issues.

With the tree removal AND the drainage work, the delay can be up to 30 minutes! Although they may turn the signs around, you will be waiting for the line of cars to get moving. We have counted, at times, up to 75 cars.
Why CalTrans allowed 2 separate contracts, in the same area, to run at the same time is beyond comprehension.

In addition, the comment "Alternate routes should be taken whenever possible." is ridiculus!

"Beyond comprehension"? Well after an exhausting time and calculation of our transportation
in this area and beyond, after painstaking map exploration, and digging deep into my inner
thoughts of all of the events Caltrans has put before us, I have figured this out for you.
The tree removal is a long project that needs to be done before Fall and Winter weather, and
paving especially will be needed before the cold and rain pattern to set in.
Now, to help you out, if you are working or need to be somewhere and have
to travel through the work area, try leaving earlier then your normal time to avoid being late.
I know, I know, that was an especially hard problem to solve. My 5th grade education
came into play with that idea, and my thanks go to Hazel Fischer Elementary School
and all of the dedicated teachers and personnel who works there.
Do you think that maybe, just maybe... I'll get a Nobel Peace Prize for such a
remarkable idea that no doubt many in your dazed and confused condition
couldn't come up with a solution to such a complex situation? Wouldn't that be something?

Sincerely

Jethro Licatwat

a giant narcissistic twat whose time is worth nothing to him and even less to the rest of us.

Go ahead, Bozo...leave early and then enjoy the 45 minutes sitting with your thumb in your azz while waiting on twenty dollar an hour doofuses who don't give a rip about you or your time.

No excuse for making motorists endure these waits.

You listening, half bridge Mike? I'd suggest lighting a fire under cal-trans' derriere, cuz I'm an undecided voter, and not thrilled with what I've seen...
