Forest Service Begins Road Repairs on Spicer Road, Work Will Repair Winter Storm Damage

Bear Valley, CA...Temporary repairs are underway on Spicer Road, Forest Road 7N01, on Calaveras Ranger District. The temporary repairs, scheduled between May 10 and May 25, will allow vehicle access to reservoirs during the Memorial Day weekend. Permanent repairs are scheduled between May 29 and late July.

Spicer Road offers primary access to Spicer, Union, and Utica reservoirs, east of the community of Arnold, California.

“We are relieved to be repairing Spicer Road,” said Ray Cablayan, Calaveras District ranger. “Last year’s winter storms really took their toll and we’re glad the Federal Highway Administration was able to provide funding for the repair. Spicer is a vital transportation route for visitors, residents and permittees.”

Travelers are warned that this will be an active construction site. Visitors should pay attention to roadway signs, be alert to the possibility of construction equipment, slow down when approaching traffic controllers and please drive cautiously through the construction zone.

The Spicer Road repair project stretches from Highway 4 to Spicer Meadow Reservoir. Forest travelers should expect construction delays in the project area. This is funded under the Federal Highway Administration program known as ERFO, or Emergency Relief for Federally Owned roads.

How about running a grader down Candy Rock Road, and taking out the leaning tree that prevents fire trucks from using it?

I just fixed it for you. I told the rangers about this 3 weeks ago, and they did nothing. Now an ambulance or fire truck can go down Candy Rock. Rangers are worthless.

Dan Emerson ans K.W. Emerson construction could have this project started and completed. The USFS is run by Snowflakes! Jerry Brown could cut a few bucks lose from the gas tax he has collected, I believe I heard 500 + millions since it was thrown on us by Jerry, the commie, and all the repairs could be done! As long as the govt. has control of much of the forest, they do what they like, and when thy like! Privatize this stuff and it will get done! I don't care who is in charge of these roads, Federal or State, we the taxpayers are footing the bill! Without us, they are out of business! Vote for candidates that are conservative, and have business backgrounds, things get done when your not afraid of the world around you! Look at what our President has accomplished! Get with it people, don't settle for the same old Leftist way's those people are being left in the dust!

Privatize it, yeh, sure,? Like you think corporations ain’t gonna rip us off as much as they can. It is public land. We need public control of public land to ensure that we have a place to hunt, fish, camp and whatever. You think a corporation ain’t gonna charge you to drive on their newly graded fixed up maybe road? Keep dreaming.

If Jerry Brown cut a few buck loose as you say, you’d bitch about that two.

Privatize? No thanks. I have maybe 800 square miles of rivers, lakes, mountains....I can go anytime, anywhere I want. If I want more I can go a short distance east, north or south and have 10, 000 square miles. Privatize? God, I hope not,
