CHS 2008 Varisty Lady Reds....CHS 2008 JV Boys Basketball Team
...The CHS Varsity Lady Reds beat the Bret Harte varsity girls 46-32; CHS JV boys beat the Bullfrogs with a close win of 54-51. Both teams played Friday, Feb. 15 in the Bret Harte gymnasium.
The Calaveras boys freshman basketball team beat Bret Harte 43-36, also Friday evening, at the CHS campus in San Andreas.
It was a terrible game for the Bret Harte boys freshman team, said the team’s coach Kelly Barnett. CHS had already scored 12 points in the first quarter, while Bret Harte had scored only one. “We struggled (the entire game),” he said.
The Bret Harte varsity girls team also struggled, according to Bret Harte varsity player Sonya Garrison. “We weren’t as strong (tonight),” she said. One of the girls on her team went for a lay-up and fell on her ankle and wasn’t able to play the rest of the game, she said. The season, overall was strong, though, she said. "We're all like sisters. If we win, we all win; if we lose, we all lose."
The team’s league standing is still strong with 11-3-0, and an overall standing of 19-6-0.
The CHS varsity girls basketball team has a league record of 10-5-0 and an overall record of 14-12-1.
