Governor Brown Joined Attorney General Becerra at Press Conference in Sacramento Today

Sacramento, CA...Attorney General Becerra Held Press Conference on Trump Administration Lawsuit. Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. yesterday issued the following statement on U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ announcement that he will file suit to block California legislation: “At a time of unprecedented political turmoil, Jeff Sessions has come to California to further divide and polarize America. Jeff, these political stunts may be the norm in Washington, but they don’t work here. SAD!!!”

The text of Governor Brown’s Senate Bill 54 signing message – issued last October – is copied below and clearly spells out what California law does and doesn’t do:

October 5, 2017

To the Members of the California State Senate:

I am signing Senate Bill 54, the California Values Act.

This bill states that local authorities will not ask about immigration status during routine interactions. It also bans unconstitutional detainer requests and prohibits the commandeering of local officials to do the work of immigration agents. The bill further directs our Attorney General to promulgate model policies for local and state health, education, labor and judiciary officials to follow when they deal with immigration matters.

In enshrining these new protections, it is important to note what the bill does not do. This bill does not prevent or prohibit Immigration and Customs Enforcement or the Department of Homeland Security from doing their own work in any way. They are free to use their own considerable resources to enforce federal immigration law in California. Moreover, the bill does not prohibit sheriffs from granting immigration authorities access to California jails to conduct routine interviews, nor does it prevent cooperation in deportation proceedings for anyone in state prison or for those in local jails for any of the hundreds of serious offenses listed in the TRUST Act.

These are uncertain times for undocumented Californians and their families, and this bill strikes a balance that will protect public safety, while bringing a measure of comfort to those families who are now living in fear every day.

Sincerely,

Edmund G. Brown Jr.

California To Be Spanked!

Get ready for your spanking California!

Breaking Federal Law on many levels has consequences, such as your allowance from Uncle Sam being withheld. Federal Funding is 1/3 of the California Budget-your social programs will crumble when Federal funds are held!

Non US Citizen Illegal Immigrants are using taxpayer dollars for housing, education, health care, deportation legal services, and law enforcement evasion. Taxpayers are paying for this, yet see no benefit for taxpayers.

No one is breaking federal law. ICE can arrest as they wish. But CA law enforcement will not help them deport illegals who are not in some other way criminals.

And as a side benefit, there may be enough people around to pick CA's agricultural crops this year.

And as a further side benefit, it appears this action has caused the Calaveras County wingnut's heads to explode. They have no reaction to rampant lawlessness by Trump and his cronies, but this humane law has made them insane. Well, more insane.

Speaking of which, someone should take their guns away. The insane should not have guns.

Ha! Jeffrey Beauregard Sessions and his dog handler, Dennis Dennison are about to get their slapdown.

As I heard this conference on the radio, my wife and I both said just how proud we are to be native Californians. We may be snowflakes, but we don't melt!

How is it breaking Federal law to state that the police officers of our cities and counties are not going to be doing the work of the immigration dept as long as they are not stopping the federal agents from doing the job they are paid to do?

Maybe maybe not. Don’t matter. If ICE can’t do their own work , if Congress won’t prosecute big industries that hire illegals, why should that be California’s problem. CA small businesses and agriculture rely on illegals to do the work that white boys wont do.

Correct. It is documented that Trump properties hire immigrants do work in the kitchen, clean the rooms, etc. Anyone wonder how many of these workers should be deported along with the others that are not criminals but are being rounded up by the Session's gestapo.

Hello? There's nothing wrong with hiring immigrants, Einstein (you really aren't too bright there, are you?) It's the hiring of illegal immigrants that has America up in arms. It's the 113 BILLION DOLLARS spent annually on illegal immigrants, that the US taxpayers fork out. It's the tax payer part you might not be aware of. Tax payers have jobs. Those BILLIONS should be going towards, our children, or maybe our elders, or mental health, but should be going towards American citizens, not someone who sits at home having 7 kids and we have to pay for those kids for their lifetime.
This is why President Trump won the election, we want America First, not Mexico.

Where do you get your facts?
It’s the other way around. California pays in WAY more than we get back, and the federal government is certainly NOT paying 1/3 for our services costs.
California pays on more than any state in the union.
You need a crash course in government.

First, State's rights are State's rights! We don't need the Federal gov't meddling in our employment practices.

Second. ICE is simply going in and gathering up anyone who 'looks' Mexican. Then they turn around and say 1/2 of them have a criminal record. That could be something as a traffic violation on record! The ACLU has looked into some of the ICE claims and found them to be a stretch of the truth and intent of getting criminals out of the US.

More importantly, the one's that are honest are sequestered with those that are not. That means the harvests are left in the fields, the dishes are washed in the restaurants, etc. Caucasians think they are too good to do these jobs, and these jobs are hard work and pay little.

Third, CA contributes more to the Federal budget than it gets back. For every $ withheld by the Trump administration, CA should simply not send that amount in to begin with. Or, maybe CA should just withhold all monies it would normally send to the feds.

Fourth, many in Calaveras County have condoned bucking federal law related to the cannabis industry.

Stand up for State rights! Tell Jeff Sessions and his Trump cronies to go back to DC where they belong. Leave our State and those who live and work here alone.

Feds should do their job
Posted on: 2018-03-07 15:01:20   By: Anonymous

They should start by picking up illegal from our local jails amd state prison. They expect locals to house illegals until the feds get around to getting them. And the feds can start busting big industries that hire illegals, but they won’t because the big corporations would through a hissy fit.

Trump could solve this problem if he wanted. Instead he just wants to mess with California . He messes with everyone that doesn’t bow down to him.
